OCC/DVSFIII Update
DV and I attended a board meeting of the Madison Airport last night. We presented for approval the plan for Sunday, the last day of Fling III. OCC will be responsible for that venue so this is really "a call to arms". We'll need plenty of support to pull this off. I'm in the process of locating bleachers and port-a-potties. Anyone in central Ohio have any connections? SCCA is going to lay out an autocross course and we have some setting up the drag strip. BTW, the airport will be shut down all day. We need people to direct traffic, direct people, supervise Boy and Girl Scouts, security of our cars and more. Please let me knoe if you can help out! More to follow as things develop.

Frank,
Since I won't have a car registered this year, I can help out where ever needed. Friday is uncertain at this point, as our development schedule at work this summer is extremely full. Saturday and Sunday I am available completely. Also, if there is interest, I can bring the 4-corner scales and set up a weigh booth for those who would like an accurate weight of their Cobra. Perhaps donations could be made for this service going to Team Jenny.
It's your call. If there is enough going on already, just lemme know what/where/when.

People
As for the day of the event....
I like many others will be concerned that they can not enjoy the day if they are working. You may want to make a list of all the jobs that will be required and divide up into shifts. Perhaps even do it like the SCCA does. Everyone who attends is required to work. Usually only an hour. Just a thought.
My brother is a police officer and he is talking to some of his buddies. I think for sure you will have at least a couple of off duty officers that will help.
Sorry, no connection on the pots and bleachers. They SCCA folks should have connections at least with the porta pots. Won't the airport facilities be available?

Dave,
You betcha your scales can be put to good use! We'll find a place to set you up. How much ya gonna charge?
Rick, We've got quite a few "civilians" to draw on for the actual event. We really don't want "Flingers" to miss a minute of the festivities.
I'm sure your friendly Officers are aware that they really don't have the authority needed to work in a Police capacity unless they are, 1: State Tropper, 2) Madison County Sheriff.
How ever it would be great to have them and their expertise available. Can you tell me how many are or would be willing to spend the day with us?
DV...Frank- it ain't no dragrace! One car, exhibition of speed and traction thank you...all the way through 3rd gear ! Practice is over!

Dave and DV
Dave, we should build a set of ramps so the cars can just drive up on the scales and them back off of them. What do you think? Jacking up the cars is time consuming and risky but with a sheet of plywood and a couple of boards, on and off! MORE MONEY and easier.
DV, I have asked my brother to check around. Right know I think we will have three but I don't know for sure and probably won't for a while. One will most likely be a State Trooper. I know they will be out of their jurisdiction but they carry a badge so people are more apt to listen to them and if some one gets out of hand they have the experience to deal with the situation. I never expected them to be there in an official capacity. He may have some guys from his Gaurd unit as well but with my brother only time will tell! I'll keep on him though.
I am of course willing to do my part! Any one need a ride?

Frank, DV, Rick,
I'll plan on manning a weigh station. All I need is 110v via outlet or extention cord. I also thought I might check into a tent, or shelter of some kind to block the sun in case it's a repeat of last year's heat. Of course, rain will NOT be a factor! Also, my buddy from Ford, John, is planning to help me with the weigh station, so we most likely won't need to tie up any more volunteers. Rick, great idea with the ramps! We actually have a set that came with the scales, they are aluminum diamond plate, but they are pretty short. Not sure how they might work for Cobras. Would you care to be a Guinea pig for checking ramp function??? As far as cost, I though the "donation" style might work well. What do you all think? Fixed price, or pay what you can? It seems when given the open choice, most folks are more generous.
First weekend in the 60's.....missing the Cobra already!

Stuff
Sure I will be the test case for the ramps. Just let me know when and where. If my car will go up them, any car will. Never seen one sit lower. Give me call if you like (614) 447-0405. Jacking up peoples cars is risk that we may not want to take.
DV and Frank, my brother was over yesterday and said he talked to his officer buddies. SIX of them said he!! yeah we will come and help! You know how this stuff goes. May not get six but there will be some there to help.
DV, when you going to have us out to take a peak at Jenny's car????

Rick,
I'll bring everything home some weekend, and we'll do a test. I'll give you a call to set up a time. For your "test car" consideration, you get a free 4-corner weight!! Woohooo!!

Guys,
By all means come on out and take a look at Jenny's car! Heck, if Dave wants to bring the scales to the shop you can kill to birds. A Sunday would be best- Saturday would be second, or any weekday-evening.
It's really starting to get exciting-No?
DV--I didn't have enough practice for this!

Ok, but...
Right now the forecast for this weekend isn't so hot. Otherwise, fine. Want to play it by ear and firm up plans near the end of the week?
