Mike - I found you guys...

So, when you guys have these get-togethers on Jan 24, are the cars involved, too? Or is this just a chance for everyone to get together....

It's 15 in Cleveland Heights right now...the other half of the team (the half that has a garage) is in Lexington w/ the Cobra. I'm here freezing with the Honda and snow tires.....hmmm....

Forgive the dumb questions, I'm new in case y'all couldn't tell. Maybe I'll see you guys w/ or w/out car in Independence.

JP--

We will get together to knock a few down ---
Last year we got together just before Christmas-- this is sort of a yearly thing-- we have a few laugh's.

Try to attend -- we will also try to plan a few things to do this summer-- different shows etc.

It should be fun--

Mike

Sounds good - so do you guys brave the weather w/ the babies? Or is this a "bring the accord" event?

I will make every effort to be there and see if I can even get my pop to come up from Lex.

Alright! Something to tide me over til the weather breaks...

J.P:
Weather depending, which ever car you bring is your call. I don't think this is a "car" event as much as it is a "meet and greet" thing. Look forward to meeting you at the Winking Lizard.

I think the snow tires were a waste. It gets along better in the real bad stuff, but this mild winter is shredding them. Live and learn. I guess Cleveland Heights isn't snow belt. Oh well......

I'm glad this is more of a meet and greet. As cool as the cars are, you guys are really what makes this happen.

Not to reminisce too much - but my dad and I wanted to restore something - mainly rebuild a motor...something late 60's chevy, maybe a chevelle. Big block, 4 speed, blah blah blah... Nothing stirred our souls then one day he says "how about a Cobra?"

2 weeks later we are at DVSF II and fell in love w/ the family. We felt like well loved distant cousins at that point. I was trying to rationalize on the way home that the 5.4 in the Expedition sounded a little like the 351 Windsors. A lot like a fart sounds like a really good thunderstorm, but whatever.

A year later, our Surge tank was blown off the top of the motor for the 10th time in a row, I'm damn near in tears wanting nothing more than to just be at the Fling III....which was the next day. It wouldn't happen and we chalked it up to doing the engine ourselves. It dyno'd at 508 but alas...could not stay cool or keep coolant inside of it.

2 months later, we retorque the heads, and all is well in the land of Mid-Ohio. Since then I've wanted nothing more than to be able to come see all you fellow idiots at the fourth fling.

Can't wait to get together on the 24th. See y'all there.

Anyone coming at 4PM per the earlier post, do not despair. The food testers (Steve Boardman & Gary Kalis) will be there early to make sure the food is fit for Kings!

The menu is good sports bar. It is limited in scope, but tasty and there is a little something for everyone.

I look forward to seeing everyone there.

Al,

I agree--- if Dan is going to give a talk or speech I think I will be forced to cancel -----

Maybe we could pay him off!

Les -- where ya been ---- we will miss you and Mrs. Cindy.
Damn it's a long winter--- are you guys going to the fling??? At least this year you will not need to listen to Dans speech.

Steve I don't care about the food -- just stay away from the keg.

Mike

Well, if we get there early enough and guzzle down enough beer before hand then maybe, just maybe, Dan's babble, oops I mean speech, will make some sense. Hee hee hee.

Mike,
Yes were planning to go to the spring fling, wouldn't miss it! I've not been on the forum for awhile, just been very busy! We've been remodeling the dining room this winter. Knee deep in old plaster dust and drywall dust. Have you and Frank reserved your rooms yet? If so where?

Just for the record...

Boardman cornered me into giving the speech last year, because I have a loud voice - He wrote the stuff; not me. Didn't even know he had written the stuff until about two minutes before I was setup to speak - ugh!

I'll be there, but (to everyones relief) I will be a very quiet participant!

Mike, actually I think it was the 'purple hooters' that did me in - don't think that I've ever had a 'rob-roy'. But for the record, I think that I was on pretty good behavior last year.

Will probably be flying solo, most of the girls I know start dancing around 5:00pm on Friday and don't get off work until after 1:00am.

- Dan

I had forgotten the speech, thanks for reminding me.
It's a relief to me that it won't be repeated this year.

Seriously Dan, it will good to see you again.

Can't wait to drive the Cobra over there in the snow.

I think I got carried away here. Let me review this trip a minute.

Round trip to the Winking Lizard. 170 miles
Temperature Colder than hell
Age of driver Older than hell
Road conditions Probably snow
Wife's opinion No way in hell

I have been told that we are coming in the truck.

Question: What is a Winking Lizard anyway.

Jack --

Believe it or not a Winking Lizard is a lizard that winks. Nobody knows for sure if it winks cause it has something in it's eye or it's flirting. You were at the Winking Lizard for last year's event before Xmas. Didn't the lizard wink at you? If not, you probably didn't quaff enough beer down.
