Decal and competition number location

Hi,
I did not find a post about decals on cobras. I think it's very cool but just as long as there is kind of a "history" behind. So my questions are:
- where there "correct" locations of decals and competition numbers or was it up to each and every racer?
- haver there been any "famous" teams with certain decals?
- where can these nostalgic decals be bought?
I am thinking about something like this:

Try looking at Racelinedigital.com or Cobra Restorers Ltd. They come as adhesive decals and static cling.

so I know where to get them. But If you know about some "vintage" teams or "the right" spots to stick them on - thank you!

Another question: do they stick on brushed aluminum? And do they hurt the aluminum?
