Default Original steering column

Hi All,
Did the steering column come from a production car? I know the indicator stalk was from a Beetle, did the whole column come from a beetle?

Cheers

Fraz

The column isn't Beetle. Very close to MGB.

Fraz, strip off that plastic crap from your ford column - it wont look that different once you bolt on a proper steering wheel!

- have you seen the simpson belts thread on the CRC page? might interest you.

Are any of the v/w stalks self-canceling? I know mine doesn't and I assume there isn't an adjustment, but thought I'd ask. Sorry for the slight threadjack.

Hi Kev,
I know what your saying but was thinking that if I want to fit a VW indicator I will need to make a bush, and then make a more correct looking cowl, where as if it was a beetle column I would just be able to bolt one in and change the splined adaptor over. But alas its not to be, and ill have to stick with the ford column and adapt. The next thing will be to see if the Sierra Mota-lita adaptor can be made to cancel the VW stalk. I saw the harness thread, but Ive already got my Finishline harnesses, so seems a waste to go for the Simpson items for a badge. Well at the moment anyway!

Cheers

You don't see any of the column when it's all together. There's just a directional and a wheel hub. The directionals on the Beetles cancel if you add a screw to the shaft in the right place.

Doug - just replied to your pm.

Fraz - if you want i can measure the internal radius of my VW wiper switch if you want or you can bring the column over to my house and we can see if it'll fit. over to you.

Kev.
