Prior to the restoration I used to see that car running around Watkins Glen for the Vintage GP, With Mrs JJ Rodman driving it. She can wheel that car. It had webbers on it at the time.

JJ drove the car quite a bit...whenever I saw him at the Zippo race at The Glen, he was always very approachable...nice older gentleman...pretty fearless.

Here are some photos of CSX 2472 that I took at the Vintage Mustang show last summer at De Anza College (Cupertino CA).

Beautifully restored car that has quite a long history of lots of track time, according to one of the guys I talked with at the car show. It is also probably the loudest Cobra I have heard … the motor sounds very healthy indeed

Enjoy!

- Tim

Sorry,

The last "El Cid" crew guy I knew died last year and he had never found his photos, he thinks they went with his mother's stuff when she died.

He did tell stories of Hans bringing the car to "The Lamp Post" a bar in Lancaster, NY and letting guys drive it around the block for a drink. They would keep it up until the local cops showed up and persuaded them to "cease and desist".

Default Old Pics of 2472

I thought the car looked familiar. Here are some pics from an autocross in Pittsburgh in the late 60's (I'm guessing 1968).

Beastly likes this.

Pete

Thanks for the vintage pics = FANTASTIC

The loudest car I have heard was 3020, wonder if 2472 (loud) is straight pipes as I don't see mufflers.....

Pete,

Great vintage photos of 2472 ... the under dash radio was a nice touch, my guess is it was mostly likely used while parked

Jeff,

Here are a few more photos of the underside of 2472 ... did not see a whole lot of muffler, sure looks like straight pipes from what I could see ... and hear at the time
