Ace 289/260 Cobra Gas Caps
A member of the AC Owner's club has contacted Ceandess (the maker of the original Ace and 260/289 Cobra gas caps) and they are considering making a limited run of caps, depending on interest. Below is the a link to the thread he started if anyone is interested in buying one. I think it is still in the early stages with many details to be worked out, but Ceandess seems to be interested which is a good sign.

LMH,
The cost was said to be in the 45-50lb range. I am not sure of the current conversion rate but it is probably around 2 to 1 so I am figuring $100/cap. Jeff and Karl, if you want I can send an e-mail to Keith letting him know of your interest and then we can wait and see how things pan out.

Hey Jay
I'd be interested in one also. How can I get on the interested list?
Larry

Larry, I'll send an e-mail to Keith tomorrow to add one for you to my list, but want to give Jeff and Karl a chance to respond.

Hi Jay, that would be great but when I got a batch of 427 caps off them they looked for and couldn't find the keyhole release button mold. I wonder if they found it or are planning a new one. Good news for us.

Until my account has been activated there, add me down for at least one cap.

Larry, I have upped my request to cover another one for you.
Bill E, Karl, Jeff, and Bill S, I have sent Keith info that there will be a request for another 6 caps once people get approved for the forum. BTW, the reason for the approval is a few years back the ACOC forum was being targeted with large amounts of spam and they had to implement an approval process to curtail it.
Nick, In Keith's initial meeting with Ceandess they said they have no issues with the button, but I have relayed the concern to Keith for his meeting next week.
Hopefully this will all work out, but we will have to wait and see what happens next week.

Jeff, Do you have a pic of the "smooth tab" style just to be sure I know what you are talking about? I have seen a square tab version, but it has serrations on it and is not smooth.

So besides the key, what's the difference between the 289 cap and the 427 street cap?
Or IS there any difference?
Larry

It is the key or tab difference only. That is it!

That is a big difference as it goes right through the cap. The keyholes were a cast pot metal that dissolves in a chrome bath. I have reproduced those in aircraft ally and chromed them. The rectangular smooth and ribbed are an extrusion which is more sound for longevity and replating.
