Recently acquired 289 RHD,with COB 60.. VIN plate, engine number is 5A-21-R
traduction of this engine number ?

Based on what I have seen it was not uncommon for AC Cars to adopt the engine assembly date stamped in front of the left hand cylinder head as the engine number. The number you have posted is in the form of a Ford assembly date code.

I would read that as 1965-January-21th day. The R is code letter that is not fully understood but may have been the person that did the assembly work.
