I was given a Cobra 427 Chassis Instruction Book by the Shelby Distributor I purchased my CSX4000 Series Cobra from.........It is identical to the one Nick reproduced. Though it is a nice bet of nostalgia I would much rather have a CSX4000 Manual!!! When you have to go to Baer to find out what brake pads are used on the Shelby Baer Brakes,etc,etc.....I am happy that you guys are enjoying the book, however it will not help much with a Continuation series car.......My 2 cents

I bought mine from Nick strictly for its nostalgic value, as another romantic touch to the replica process. I never thought the original manual would help me much with a car that, albeit essentially unchanged, has been built 50 years later

Nick promises he will produce one soon.

No problem, as soon as they're done changing oh let me see uprights, ball joint brackets and types, bearings, brakes, control arms, materials and a host of other things. I didn't think the manual was a million miles away from what they produce today. If you want Girlings with solid rotors, Smiths gauges, Lucas electricals etc to match the manual I can fix you right up ;-)

I have 4060 and mine came with Girlings, solid rotors, Smiths gauges, Lucas electricals, etc. However, the continuation cars are extremely similar to the Cobras of the 60s in nearly every way, including the fact that they evolve a bit after every few cars built. Honestly, there are several references within the original manual that do not apply to many of the original Cobras due to mid-production changes. Come to think of it, I'm not sure I've ever seen two original Cobras that were identical.
It would be great to have a Chiltons-like manual on these. I'm sure I would refer to it often - certainly any time I have to remove the hood or radiator! However, I'd never show it off with my car. The manual that Nick has reproduced is a great addition for the car that you are trying to make look "correct" or just like the historical aspect of it. I keep mine in a leather binder in the trunk, along with other vehicle documentation. It's a fantastic novelty for when I'm showing off the car at a car show or if someone is just genuinely curious about Cobras. Love it!

Guys...I am all for the reproduction manual. It was a super surprise to have the Shelby Distributor hand it to me as we finalized the sale. My issue is with the lack of technical information that should accompany any continuation Cobra. The only way to understand the components are in your build is to get dirty, go through a learning curve and and do much research............I keep my manual ( book ) in the trunk also.

I understand what you're saying about the parts detective work. The manual doesn't give a whole lot of part numbers or parts ordering info even for the originals. It's always been this way with limited production vehicles I guess, well until Doug has you and me write a Chilton or Hanes style manual for them.

Mickmate, I come from Navy Aviation and 34 years in Aerospace. I know what Maintainance , Illustrated Parts Breakdown, Assembly,Operations and Procedure Manuals consist of........I have also done a fair amount of reverse engineering, which is what I am doing with the CSX. I know by your products you are an old hand at it also. We could make a good team for this..........Bottom line is I am not here to bash the Shelby product. I would like to assist in insuring the image of CSX cars stays strong and eliminate negative issues.

Original is a little pricey for what I’m going use it for.
I’ll contact Nick and get one of his copies.
Thanks!

I would presume someone who owned an original CSX would be a candidate.
