Default King dick ???

Like my uncle Dan from West Virginia told the "rev-a-noors" when they asked him how that 'still' got into his barn - - - "Y'all ain't gonna beeleeve this sh!t".

I was out walking my two German Shepherds this afternoon. We crossed the street next to the Club House and against the far curb was a rusty pair of pliers. I looked. then I looked again (Here comes the part where "Y'all ain't gonna beeleeve this sh!t"). I picked them up; they were in good shape except for a lot of 'new surface rust'. They were also REALLY stiff. I thought, "NAW", "Can't be", WTF ??? I put them into my jacket pocket and we continued our four mile Walk / Jog.

I had forgotten about the pliers by the time I arrived home until I took off my jacket and the pliers fell out and "took a nice chip" out of a ceramic floor tile.

The dogs and I headed for the work shop to compare the new pliers with my King Dick pliers. They are "IDENTICAL" Same size, same shape, same operating features. There are NO markings on them at all. Mine have (Very Faintly) "King Dick Made In England" diagonally across the Hinge Base.

I soaked the pliers with WD-40 and "worked" the handles several times and they freed up nicely; also much of the surface rust came off. In the next few days I'll try different solutions to clean off the remaining rust. The pliers are in MUCH better shape than mine were before restoring. I can't imagine why there is no Brand Identification on them. It is a Very High Quality tool; tight and solid and substantial. Somebody should be "proud" of it.

Has anyone heard of pliers with NO Markings ?? Any thoughts on who might have made them. I have no idea at this point. They look to New to be originals but they are identical to my King Dicks. On the off chance that there might be a second 'head case collector' in the neighborhood I called the club secretary and asked her to post a note on the club house info board.

I dunno, Huckleberry. Maybe I'll start working on a Second tool kit.

Y'all have a really great day.

Just an FYI for you guys, we sized the BDS decal for my screwdriver. If you have a different manufacturer, it may look a little different than mine.

Default Decal

Hi Larry.

I may be wrong (certainly wouldn't be the first time) but I'm reasonably sure that I have seen pictures of the BDS screwdriver with the BDS decal "On the other side of the bubble" on the handle - - in the space between the handle and the lower "bubble". Now - for the record - I can't find such a picture in my office. If it exists it might be in my workshop at home. Unfortunately I won't be going home this evening.

Could the "originals" have had the decal in different places at different times ???

Jack

Not as far I know. That's the correct orientation. There's a number of pics out there that have a screwdriver that's not correct for the Cobra as far as I know and some have the decal on in a different location. Most of those have a different shape to the handle though, with no bevel to the ferrule.

Default Orientation

OKAY: Forrest Gump had the appropriate expression but I'll save myself further embarrassment by Not quoting it.

My associate found the picture to which I was referring. (She finds a LOT of stuff that I lose). It's "supposed to be" one of the few Real pictures of the original BDS screwdriver.

THE LOCATION AND ORIENTATION OF THE DECAL IS EXACTLY LIKE YOURS.

My apologies for the confusion. (Dealing with Old People is a REAL pain in the butt).

Very Best Wishes To All For A Wonderful Holiday And A Bright, Happy And Safe New Year.

Default Waterslides

Hey, Larry.

The Waterslide Decals arrived today. They look great. Thanks very much for "making it happen".

A quick question: My plan is to just apply the decal directly to the screwdriver then paint a thin coat of Varathane over it for 'protection'.

One of my engineers tells me to:

1. Put a thin coat of Varathane on the screwdriver - then -
2. Place the decal on the Varathane - then -
3. Paint a coat of Varathane over the decal to protect it.

What do you guys recommend ??? This is all new to me.

This is (probably) the last step in completing the tool kit and I'd hate to "screw it up".

Thanks very much.

Jack
