Correct Oil Cooler Hoses and Fittings
The previous owner/builder of my car used silver braided hose with red and blue fittings on the oil/ oil cooler lines and fuel line. I do not demand 100% originality but having the correct color scheme as the original cars would be nice. I am trying to mute some of the bling and hot rod parts.
Also, I would need a recommendation on where to purchase those replacement parts. I guess I could also call ERA. Thanks.

I was just reading Motor Trend Classic with the 1966 Ford GT Mark II on the cover. I counted over 30 red/blue anodized fittings with silver braid. Any reason why? That is a fully restored multi-million dollar car.

It's an easy fix...
Forget originality, if they bug you, remove the coating -- it's a snap. I had the red/blue fittings on my remote oil filter fitting and, after a while, I changed my liking. Fifteen minutes after taking a Dremel tool steel brush attachment to it and, voilą. It would have taken me longer to have actually changed out the fittings themselves. Here are the before and after shots:

Having just picked up my ERA a few weeks ago, I can tell you that they only have the silver fittings. I requested these because I didn't want the red/blue fittings. Peter said they don't use those unless customers ask for them and don't stock them. So, Peter could provide the silver fittings if you can't find them elsewhere, although I'd think they'd be readily available at parts stores.

So, are silver fittings the correct ones? I was wondering why ERA would only have the red and blue ones and why they are also on that GT40

Other way around. ERA does not have the red and blue fittings.

My -12 fittings with cloth covered hose. It's not a good close-up, though.

Really like the fittings and hose. Who makes them? Are the fittings steel?
I am having a hard time finding the correct combination of hose and fittings that look like the original stuff.

Patrick, I like your quick fix. It is tough to see but did the wire wheel leave the fittings scratched up?

No, it didn't. It's a really easy job and, what's more, you can "trial test" it before you actually do it. Go to your local auto parts store and buy a red or blue anodized fitting end, for about two bucks, then try your Dremel brush out on that one. That's what I did -- and I was surprised at how easy it was and the fact that I had not read about it before on the bazillion car forums that I follow.

'Correct' hoses and fittings are -12 not -10 that come from ERA.
Also fabric-covered hose, not braid. And the cooler fittings are female, not the common male.
There's a lot more to 'correct' than fitting colors.

My car came with colored fittings, but swapped them all out. Tried removing the color but elected to replace.
Ordered a set of 48 IDA today from Red Line. Their fuel lines comes with the colored fittings. Elected to home brew them. It can take a little work to source the naturals.

Show him the cooler 601.
BTW- i don't think I'd pull spring pressure on that butterfly shaft. Might bell the the bore in the throttle plate. I made a small aluminum bracket for the last stud boss on the throttle plate and used slightly longer springs.

That's an optical delusion! The rear of the springs are connected to a Holley bracket that's mounted to the carb base flange bolt. There is no contact between springs and butterfly shaft.
