By the way the person that I had previously mentioned as having made his own FoMoCo stamped ring, he developed and worked for Motorsports International.

427 Cobra = Trico (a very different design)

Dan - actually i started looking through my ref books last night with a magnifying glass. The red 427 cobra in Trevor's book looks like it has the 289 style items fitted. I think i can see these on a couple of other street cars as well, but havent found a nice crisp close-up shot to confirm this yet.

Dan - I take it back, it was late and my eye sight not so good.
Also, p166 of Colin Comer's 'Shelby Cobra 50 Years' also has a good pic.

Thanks for the pm - very useful stuff - appreciated.

Kevin

Just remembered this photo on p.67 of Rinsey Mills' Original AC Ace and Cobra (and it's exactly how I remember my Tiger bezel):

I don't remember my trim ring having FOMOCO stamped on it.

I owe you a big THANKS for posting this. It proves that at one time they did exist, albeit most likely in very limited quantities (i.e. prototypes).

Now start searching those UK parts yards and find some Cobra gold!

Interesting that it's a later MKII in the photo.
