Default Brittany Blue

Am I right saying some of the small block Cobras were painted to Brittany Blue.

How about big the block cars?

Brittany Blue was a '67 Ford color, and no small block Cobras were painted that blue. Ditto for the big block cars.

General about the "blue colours"

AC only offered two blue options on CSX leaf-spring Cobras, Bright Blue and Princess Blue (silver with a touch of blue in it). Shelby used the same colour names (Bright Blue and Princess Blue) for leaf-spring Cobras; no period Shelby leaf-spring invoices refer to any other shades.

Apart from the fact that we do not know any ICI or other code, but:

Had Bright Blue really be a metalic paint?

Can someone confirm this?

Three Blues were used on the small block Cobras...as noted in the SAAC Registry:

1) Princess Blue (production street cars)

2) Guards Blue (production street cars and 1965 SAI team race cars)

3) Viking Blue (1964 SAI team race cars)

AC only offered two blue options on CSX leaf-spring Cobras, Bright Blue and Princess Blue. At least I have not seen any other description in the World Register for any 260/289 Cobra.

But again: was Bright Blue a metallic paint or a non-metallic paint?

Where in the registry does it reference Bright Blue as an original color on the leaf spring cars?

On the ACOC site, there's s reference to Shelby repairing Bright Blue cars with Gaurdsman Blue Metalic. The match was "close", which would lead me to believe that it was a Metalic.

Update; more reading on the ACOC site, I read that AC offered two blue colors; Bright Blue and Princess Blue. "Both colors are Metalic...".

So who are we going to believe "ACOC" or "SAAC"?

Well it's interesting and a little confusing. Maybe Ned can clarify if I put him on the spot here. (sorry Ned!) The registry shows in the color list, two blues for CSX cars; Princess Blue and Guardsman Blue. No mention of Bright Blue at all and no mention of Viking Blue. I suspect Viking Blue was the color of the early factory team cars only, which were unpainted when sent to the SA and therefore doesn't show as an available color.
However, when you read about how individual standard cars were shipped to the states, there are a number of them painted Bright Blue as Ghiblicup states in his posting. Guardsman Blue is a Ford color I think but was Bright Blue really Guardsman Blue on Cobras once in the US? Not sure ...yet!

I'm told offline that Bright Blue and Guardsman Blue aren't close in color. Looks like it's just an omission in the registries color list.

I seem to remember a "Pacific Blue" for some reason, all of the blues that were used were metallic paints.

With a lot of help from Dan it looks like blue colors supplied by AC or SA are like most things Cobra, not an exact rule. Lots of variables in color, time, solvents, government involvement, painters, guns etc, etc... all make duplicating an original paint from the day near impossible if someone was attempting to do so today. Can Nitrocellulose Lacquer even be bought in the USA now? Even if it can be, the color would be near impossible to match to original and the paint isn't durable at all. As far as Bright Blue goes, it was an original color supplied by AC Cars.
I was thinking Pacific Blue is a color offered on late CSX cars but I could be wrong about that.
