Default what did original 427 foot boxes look like inside?

I am working on the foot boxes on my factory five MKIV and noticed that they have a distinct kit car look when viewed from inside the cockpit. The dropped lower floor and the exposed structural round tubing don't feel right. I am looking at a reasonable facsimile of a 427 S/C build for my car and I was wondering what the inside of the originals looked like. I have viewed many pictures but a good view of the original inside foot boxes is tough to find. I would appreciate any information, especially pics that you may have that show the real deal foot boxes. I am hoping that a I might find that some minor non-structural changes would reduce the kit car feel and actually be closer to a 427 S/C.
Thanks in advance
Ron

The original footboxes were fiberglass. There wasn't any steel tubing like on the FFR chassis. Originals had an outrigger underneath that help support the footboxes

The originals were fiberglass boxes with floor mounted pedals. Different arrangement for the steering shaft to penetrate the front of the box also. It can be done, but it would take quite a bit of work to fit the fiberglass boxes to the FF5 frame as it is. Also, the floor mount pedal box can also be done but would require a complete rework of the FF5 driver's side outriggers and metal and mounting points for it to fit.

Once you have the insulation and carpet in, you won't really notice the difference, IMHO.

Hurricanes have fiberglas footboxes (except for the floor panel) and floor mounted pedals. Dean Lampe did a great job making HM-2002 look very original.
