Dan, would you have a dimension for the diameter of the rubber bumper at its widest, and the height of the bumper element? I've found a 1950s Jaguar bumper which might be close, but I don't have one here to measure just now.

Thanks,
Roger

I'll send you the drawing but RareDrive might still have some available.

If they don't maybe Nick would have a run made. The molding company should still have my mold in inventory, they did last time a company wanted a run of parts. (I commissioned and paid for the mold, they kept up with it.)

Thanks - that looks like it mounts to a hole drilled in the glass? But you said it's to the windshield frame?

If you can get dimensions you might check in McMaster's list of rubber bumpers. I bought a bunch from them years ago, including one I mounted at the front of the door jamb to somewhat simulate the original front door jamb bumper on my ERA. I'm sure what I used is not dimensionally correct but the door jamb clearances on replicas will vary from the originals.

Here is the installed bracket that holds the bumper.

Update about Ace Hardware for the rubber bumpers. Jeff must have bought them all!
They have ones close but the sides are more square and not conical shaped.

The early design, brass shank and bullet shaped end (see previous post by CCX1985) are bolted thru the tubing and sheet metal of the door jam and the tapered end intercepts the hole in the tubing welded to the tubing of the door frame.

Steele Rubber Products - General Use Stem Bumpers
They use them in gas doors as stoppers on a lot of cars too. I'd find something close and not let Dan near it with calipers if he's judging your concourse car ;-)

I've actually already ordered from them as I could get no response from RareDrive. I went with these:

Steele Rubber Products - License plate bumper

I know the dimensions are a little 'off', but as you say don't tell Dan!

The very friendly folk (Carrie) at RareDrive are going to send me some of Dan's rubber buffers, so I'll report once they arrive.
