Default Splitter trim

Hello everyone,

I've commissioned the excellent Dave Brookes in the UK to build me an aluminium 427 in 'Street' trim, rather than the more usually seen S/C.

The car is now at an advanced stage of build and we're in discussion about the splitter. Original cars fitted with a splitter had a bright finish to the leading front edge of the panel and I've seen elsewhere on the forum that the most suitable trim is from a period VW Beetle running board. Is this the most accurate trim available and if so, could anyone share any more information please?

We're concerned that the edges on an original car appear to be 'finished' and certainly the replica ones for sale on well known US Cobra parts supplier would also appear to be trimmed at each end - is that how VW supply them, or do they need additional work?

Any further information would be greatly appreciated, as I want to get this detail exactly right.

Marsh

I think Mickmate at Acton Inc carried a reproduction of this trim or at least he had some info on them. Not inexpensive however.

Air Splitter Trim

You might be able to PM or call him for more detail.

You might try McKluskey as he probably has this.
If not CompClassics or Rare Drive?

They are real 60's Cobra restoration houses.
