427 Prototype chassis?

Dave Friedman's book has a brief discussion (pgs. 96-97) about the first 427 prototype. The car looks like a standard 289 road car (wire wheels!) with an added rollbar.

Does anyone know the chassis number and any details of the car's history?

I think you're asking 2 different questions.

From my memolry, There were 1 or 2 small block chassis that had FE's transplanted in them. Maybe this is the prototype ?

The 427 chassis I believe was the first automotive chassis ever designed on a computer (Ford). The first completed 427 car was CSX3002, which had a partial 289 body, as I belioeve the 427 body was not ready yet.

Just one question, Anthony. I'm not talking about a coil-spring chassis. The chassis number I'm asking about is the leaf-spring chassis that the first 427 was dropped into, and that was tested by Bob Bondurant at Riverside in 1964.

It was chassis CSX2196, it started off as a conventional Cobra body that evolved into what is often referred to as the "flip top" or "turd".

Thanks, CC. I didn't realize it was the same chassis as the Turd. Been picking up Cobra knowledge for years, but lots of interesting details yet to learn.
