Default 427 Cobra rear license plate mount

Looking at the pics of the recent barn find phenom CSX3278, I noticed the two vertical bars mounted on the rear bumper hoop for the license plate mounting.

Were those original and are any available?

Cheers
Greg

I've never seen those on an original car, and I doubt whether they'd pass inspection. That far out and the plate isn't "legally" lit by the trunk light.

Default License Plate

Not original, original cars had the plate mounted to the deck lid under the light. I could not bring my self to drill holes in the deck lid so I mounted mine to the rear bumper with military style insulated clamps until last year. Drew Serb talked me into mounting to the deck lid as originally intended.

You don't need to drill the deck lid.

Works perfect.

Not to be argumentative - but if the deck lid wasn't drilled by SAI and if a bracket similar to the bumper mount or the ERA mount wasn't provided - it sounds like there wasn't a stock mounting method.

Default Rear license plate

My car was delivered with no license plate bracket, I picked it up from the SAI facility at LAX. I suspect dealers might have supplied or installed plate brackets but don't know for sure.

Thanks guys. Always like to chase these things to ground.

Although I have my plate mounted below the license plate light,

I also like the look of the plate mounted on the bumper hoop as the plate doesn't hide the lines of the car.

Always curious baout the originality.

Cheers
Greg
