I think its quite possible guys were using bigger engines back then. They might not be advertising it and never got caught so they were not cheating. If you look in the old catalogs you can find lots of stroker cranks back in the 60's. Also here is a link to a post in another thread here on club cobra on an engine from the early to mid 60's. Also there is a member on here that lives north of Chicago that has a leaf spring cobra that has an engine that sounds just about like the one decribed in the post that This goes to.
