Just posted more photos, all taken this month. It seems few folks bother to look, I get very few comments. However, I will continue posting photos of progress. You can see in this batch of pix lots of progress in the interior rear body panels. Floor is made, and next week it's going to get its exhaust system, which will be a Borla 2 into 1 (exit) located under the passenger side of the cabin. Hopefully the car will be completed by the end of the year, but the body work and painting will take a lot of time.

Where are they? If they're not embedded in a post I don't see them.

I have been looking at all your photos, and fallowing the progress on your great car! It is easier to comment here, then on each photo. The only down side to your build thread is, every time I see you progress, I wish Hawk would build either a kit, or a continuation Aceca for the rest of us, who will never own an original Aceca!

I will be interested in your exhaust. I'm looking into mine at the moment. Your's will be quite different to mine, I imagine, but always good to see what others have done.
Cheers!

I've enjoyed watching your progress as well. Do you have any plans for air conditioning? I'm thinking that cabin could get pretty warm.

Thanks to all of you that have replied! I was beginning to wonder if anyone was watching ...
And to Healey Rick: the cabin will be heavily insulated, but yes, it will have AC. The condenser etc will be located on the bottom right side of the engine compartment, on the other side from the battery. As a restomod, it will have the FI Ford 302, Griffin radiator with a shroud and an electric fan, 4 wheel disks, easily adjustable QA1 dampers, air conditioning, TKO 5 speed (0.82 5th), shoulder belts, hazard flashers, somewhat wider tires (I don't believe in burnouts ...) and a modernized dash that will look original but will include AC and heater controls, an old-appearing but new radio etc. The idea is to have it look old and stockish but be modernized to be reliable, comfortable, all weather capable, and QUICK.

Might I suggest looking for a Becker Europa Stereo II with attached amplifier It's what I have in my Healey and was a radio that came in the non-stereo version in '60s Porsches and Mercedes. The Stereo version came in Pagoda Mercs. It looks appropriately vintage and with the attached amp, it has enough power to hear in my Healey with the top down. I've had it converted to Bluetooth so that I can play my music through my iPhone.

I had a couple of older Mercedes with that Becker. 63 and I think the 76 240D had it too. It sounded great.

As you probably know, there are several companies making retro looking satellite radios, especially early 60s Ford clones. Sadly, no Telefunken clones, for my dream Beck 550 Spyder, that I would like to do up as a Carrera Panamericana Mexico racer!

Hey Grybrd, while I probably won't die if I never see your Aceca done, we don't actually have any empirical evidence that I won't! So just to be on the safe side, keep posting, my life may depend on it! Cheers, Dennis

Well, if I'm correct in thinking it will be done by New Year's 2023, you won't have to last too much longer ..... hang in there!

New batch of photos, guys. Almost ready to powder coat the frame in medium gray. Just need to make sure all the welding is done - basically the car will be built up and then torn down for frame coating. More photos coming after coating (outside) and wax oiling the tubing (to keep frame members from rusting on their inside).

Good progress, good pictures.
Any further work on the exhaust system?
Cheers,
Glen

Check out a batch of new photos I took yesterday including the disassembled exhaust system and the dash mockup. Sorry I was unable to get to the ex system as it was installed on the car, but they are moving pretty fast now and have almost finished stripping the frame for powder coating. This batch of pix shows the frame bare except for the front suspension which is waiting for the front sway bar to be delivered so its brackets can be attached to the frame. After that, they'll rotate the frame and finish all the welds, then powder coat and wax oil so the final build can be started.

Had to go to the shop today to bring them the Painless wiring harness and fuse box they specified, so I took a few more photos. Should be going to the powder coaters next week. Exhaust manifolds etc are out getting ceramic coated now.
I do have a question: occasionally a photo doesn't load properly, it sort of gets smeared across the frame. There doesn't appear to be anything wrong with those pix before I load them on the gallery, but they don't load properly. Can anyone 1) tell me why and 2) tell me how to fix it?
Thanks!

I see what you mean. The engine shot looks normal as a small preview, but it stretches as a full size.
I have not previously come across that effect with pictures that I've loaded; I've sometimes seen pictures inverted, but I've not experienced your problem.
That's no help, is it?
Cheers!
Glen
edit: possibly the picture file is too large; it might be automatically compressed, resulting in a stretched image. I typically change image sizes that I load onto Club Cobra down to around 300kB
