I can't answer your question completely, but I have one on a 1967.

Yup! You're on to me. That's where I got it. I can't tell you how many times I've seen that movie, but I'm still addicted to it. I've even given serious thought to getting "HANNIBAL 8" personnalized plates for the Cobra.

Is a counter clockwise speedo where you put the potato in the back?
(just kidding), Last time i was in Ireland, i rented a stick shift and I can't tell you how many times i slapped the right door panel when i went to change gears. They finally fixed the speedometers, but still have the steering wheel and yellow stripes on the wrong side. I was driving to Galway and my cousin asked if all "yanks" drove that fast. I THOUGHT I was doing 80 kmh.

Did some digging on this one a while back...

It seems a few of the first Comp cars had standard rotation... the remainder of the Comps and S/Cs had reverse rotation.

It looks like the first production run of street 427s (CSX31xx) had standard speedos....and that CSX32xx and up had reverse ones.

This may not be 100% accurate, but it's close, based on early photos and current cars that appear to have original instrumentation.
