Default Gas tank rear brackets

What did these attach to? I'm thinking a bracket hung from the bumper mounts or holes drilled in the 3/4" sq tube across the rear. Any pics, advice or drawings??

I couldn't figure it out either so here is what I did-

I took some 12 guage steel strips about 1" wide and cut them to the length I needed to come flush with the bottom of the tank support. I twisted them cold so they would match up with the curved 3/4" tube at top and parrallel with the tank support at the bottom and welded the top to the 3/4" tube leaving them suspended. I drilled a 5/16" hole at the bottom of the strips to match holes in the tank support so I could remove it later if necessary.

I'm sure there are better ways, especially if you're using a stock style tank and supports but this worked for me and it's pretty darned solid when it is all bolted in place.
If you need pics of my home made remedy let me know and I'll take a couple and send them to you. - Bob

hey Nick,

that could be a hook hugging the radiused end piece between the bumper mount and the aluminium strip with a threaded end going through the square tubes leading forward, supporting the tank.

long sentence..

cheers,

dominik

Hey he's back, I was wondering where the heck you've been! I have a photo of what I came up with. I'll post it when I get back from SAAC 31. If there's anything for details you want me checking for us e-mail me and I'll talk to Bon on the phone. And you thought you did long sentences! Good to see you posting.

hey Nick,

the project car landed in germany while I was there for 6 weeks. The dealer will finish it for a client. Quite a disappointing result from more than one years work (or not working?) down here.

I have that hook in my files somewhere..., but need to install a virtual PC application on my new Mac first to look for it.

there may even be a hardcopy.

If your are real crude (or desperate) bend a threaded rod around the 3/4" x 1,5" where the bumper mounts are welded to and stick the end through those 3/4" x 3/4" supporting the tank.

Tip:
weld nuts to the bumper mounts, you can't get there with a spanner.

I mailed a pic. Dpn't know yet hoe to reduce to fit into the forum.

Dominik
