Default factory race car paint

The photo of Shelby standing with the 3 cobras #s 96 97 98 outside of a building with an open garage door. These are apparently black cars with one car having the gold bumble bee stripes.

Who knows which cars this paint scheme was used on? I do not need to know serial numbers. But when & where? Was this layout used for one race or a portion of a season?

thanks, Karl

the black paint scheme was used on the '63 team cars (lemans replicas) there were 3 of them made.
'62-'63 team colors were generally red except the lemans replicas which were black.
'64 team cars were viking blue (light).
'65 team cars were guards blue (dark).

Considering the GREAT progress you're making on your scratch-build, I guess it's never too early to start thinking about colors.

thanks elgeko
you'd think that i was doing a scratch build but actually it's a aluminum 7000 series from "SAI" that i'm COMPLETELY rebuilding to the proper '60s specifications with all original parts and modifications for a "FIA" 289 cobra. paint colors etc... have already been picked out.

Default race car paint

Hey CSX700?, thanks for the info.

You are correct Dave, Actually the paint layout was the 1st item on my list. I have several possibles but I think the black with gold bumble bee stripes is perfect. I am trying to purchase a CSX3002 body that has the 289 front and 427 back.

See you in a couple weeks, Karl
