Gas filler cap
What is the correct position for the hinge on the LeMans cap? I was told to put the hinge to the front. Pictures I've looked at on CSXINFO.NET don't necessarly show any trend. Just curious.

I can't imagine any reason for this to actually be "specific", the "Large" cap was put there to allow for a larger fill opening. Just pretend you were concerned with refueling it quickly, and put the hinge in "The best location in your opinion". It's subjective at best.
I've seen a pictures of a 289 race car being fueled by the "Crew" by pouring gasoline in what appeared to be a large funnel made from what appeared to be a small oval shaped wash tub. How scarey is that!

The rational was that if the cap wasn't closed after re-fueling the air flow would keep it toward the closed position or acceleration may even close the lid.

Here is Jay Bentley's CSX. It has the hinge on the inside.

DU: Gravity will have more effect on it, aero dynamics don't exist on a Cobra, you're thinking too hard, don't try to reinvent the wheel.

Rick, like I said, how did the come from Shelby. I'm sure there have been an infinite number of iterations. We wory about the correct position of the quick jacks so how about the gas cap....

The majority of original comps or S/C's I've seen have it positioned hinge in. Seems logical to me as the cap would be out of the way for fueling.
Hinge out and the cap would be in the way when open.
