original 1964 289 alternator bracket
i am currently in the process of making the molds for the original style 1964 289 cobra alternator mount casting. i was just curious as to how many people would be interested in this type of bracket? the bracket would be an exact copy of an original part (cast steel) that was unique to the 289 cobras and is very hard to find today. if your interested please contact me or post to this thread as i need some kind of idea as to how many people would like to have one. the price depending on how many are interested would be around $500.00, i know this is not cheap but then again they are not available anywhere................or i would have bought one!

Jim... I think this is accurate:
Lucas generators up to CSX2070
Ford generators up to CSX2200
Ford alternators from CSX2201 to the end.

for those interested we are now taking deposits on the alternator bracket (machined casting only). please email if you want one.............this will be a one time run of this part and the amount of pieces will be determined by the number of people that have a deposit.

chuck
the alternator bracket is a cast steel part that was unique to the 289 cobra only. the part will have all the original parts features including the correct cast logo as per original. for those interested please email me. there is not a FORD number on this part as it was originally cast in england by the same people that cast the suspension pieces for the cobra.

Alternators became available from Ford in 1964, most but not all models used them. In 1965 all models used them.
The big advantage was alternators produced more current (amps) and volts at a much lower rpm than generators, ie 'quick charge'.
