The lines are correct. The rest of the car was made from scratch. It's a complete re-do by AC under Brian Angliss. Keck had the car just sitting after putting it away wet.

I think the blue fittings look gay...not that there's anything wrong with that.

From everything I've seen of the originals, I agree with Kris that a variety of connectors were used over the production run.

I am corrected!
3008 was owned at the time I saw it by agent from Delaware, I believe and he drove it to Charlotte that year with a friend in support station wagon. Drove through the night in a heavy rainstorm and the car was not "put away wet"-he ran it's ASS off during the SAAC open track events.
It had duct tape on the hoses, cracked seats-you name it-single four SO with turkey pan-a MESS. Was a Viking blue at the time with stripes and meatballs.I'll scan and post if I dig out the pics.
Sal, thanks for the kind words on our block. The rear cap we have now has a rounded edge profile which HELPS, but we have to bash 'em sometimes too. We use Moroso pans but I suspect you have a Canton for it.

hello sal,
reading this old forum and seems that you are the expert. had a question about these oil cooler hole. was there only 1 correct shape (yours)?

i've seen so many different shapes.

what cars came with these holes? you mentioned only S/C cars? but i've also seen them on street and comp cars, even on 289s.

just curious, thanks.

I credit some of my knowledge to many others, but I do like the details.

The ones in the center of the picture, only in a 90degree version. They pivot so positioning is never a problem.

Default Oil cooler set up

The hardest part of finding the truth behind the correctness of these cars, is that most of them have been modified over the years. Even cars that are touted as very original, have had most of the important detail parts changed over the years. Comp cars especially are usually VERY altered from as they came from Shelby, even if it's just from routine racing replacements of stock parts.

BTW, we are putting together a new motor for my brother's Mustang, and using a ManOWar block. This thing is insane. The only thing that sucks is making the oil pan fit the mains in the rear!
My memory is getting very fuzzy but as I remember my car was configured exactly as Sal indicated with the 10-12 step down at the cooler. I remember thinking that it was a bad idea and would restrict oil flow at the time. I still use the steel hydraulic fittings and fabric covered hose although everything is #12 on the pressure side and #16 on oil tank return and feed. As others have stated those hoses and fittings have been changed dozens of times over the years.

I purchase fittings of the style you want from vendors who sell Parker brand hydraulic fittings. There other brands, too. The fittings are called JIC, an acronym for Joint Industry Council. They are 37 degree flare fittings and will interconnect with AN adapters and fittings. AN is also 37 degrees.
