All cars in the original batch of 427's were delivered to Shelby American with soft tops and side curtains installed.

The door ferrules and lift-a-dot posts on the rear cowl and the dash were standard.

There is a photo floating about with Peyton Kramer and I believe Al Dowd loading some 289 FIAs in an airplane for an overseas flight for the European Battle. They had Soft Tops on the cars. With the toneau cover being an option, I'm not sure if the lift-a-dot post were on the dash panel, but certainly were for the standard Soft Top on the rear, behind the passenger compartment.

Thanks...so those Chrome snaps behind the seats on the body (for the top) where on the race cars as well?..Just wondered why? (considering the racing windscreens).

Also if anyone knows...did they have wiper motor attachments too? I am trying to figure out if I even need wipers to pass inspection to get my car titled.

I believe all the cars came with tonneau covers as standard, at least the street cars.

Comp cars(289's) were required to have operable windshield wipers and windshields to conform to FIA rules, though there are a few photos around showing the SA comp cars sans wiper arms racing in Europe. USSRC rules did not require either and the wipers and motor and windshield were often removed by both SA and privateers to save some weight . The windshield was replaced with the small comp plexi shield.
I believe all 289's were delivered with tops as well as tonneau covers from AC
