Default Colors

Hey all,

Got to make my final decision on the precise color for my car. I am buidling the car you see in my profile picture.

Question - Is there a site you can compare colors. I have physically looked around at other cars, however the only cars I have seen with the original color (which I think is the 1965 Lincoln Silver Mink).....they seem to look really blue.

I want to compare this color with other Silvers from OEM. Any ideas where I can do this online just to get ideas?

Kramer

You are MUCH better off doing that at car dealers' lots.

Deciding on a color based upon what you view in a monitor is just a bad idea.

Thanks Guys....fyi...I agree that you are much better off looking at colors at the dealer lots....that is how I came up with the color code I have chosen thus far.

Computerworks....I have talked to Bob and Peter already and I have already made friends with the ERA owner with the same setup. His car is beautiful and his one of the nicest cobra people I have met. In fact, I gave him a call this morning. Thing is, his cobra, albeit a awesome depiction of the original is not the same color as the original. Again no disrepect, I just was curious to see what the original color looked like since I have never seen it on a car, or in a parking lot anywhere.

Kramer.

Back on the sixties, many colors were chosen by what was on the shelf, and quite a few were mixed to make a certain color. Sometimes they weren't at all like the replica, and surely not as shiny.

The Auto Color Library has over 100K color chips online, but before you make a final decision, have the painter make a sample that's at least a square foot and can be curved a bit. Otherwise, you'll never get a true idea of the look.

My original 289 is painted silver mink, and it is a silver blue color. If you are near Greensboro NC any time, come by and take a look and we'll go for a ride too.

Jim,

Thanks for the pictures. I think this is the first actual picture I have seen that shows the sliver mink color!! I wish I was still in Altanta(used to live there a long time ago), if I did I would love to see that color on an actual color.

I have been dreaming of this car for over 25 years now. I always here folks say before they get there car, they feel like a kid a christmas and I could not agree more.

Thanks again...if for some reason you have more pics, I would love to see them.

Kramer, It isn't metallic. I have lacquer on the car but will switch to enamel clear coat metallic most likely when I restore the car. If I was going to repaint the car, I would make it metallic. I have now seen a correct Princess Blue Cobra. The color matches the AC color chip labeled "Princess Blue" exactly. Finally!
