Default Make Quick jacks

I was thinking about building my own quick jacks out of stainless. Does any one have the measurements of quick jacks?

I built mine out of aluminum and just played with drawings/cutouts until it was so close no one could tell the difference, no bid deal.

Smile homemade quick jacks

A Cobra buddy, Colin had some made at a local shop. They cut and bend the stainless. It took another friend about 40 hours to polish them. The bending process left marks that were hard to polish out.

I could be wrong, but I think the original quickjacks were welded, not bent.

When I considered the time and cost of building my own, I decided that ordering from Finish Line was the best deal with the least hastle: Finish Line Accessories

Joey: I admit, there is the DIY factor. I like laying down a bead as much as anyone . . . it paid my way through college. But now, I find it easier just to bolt on the good parts.

By the way, Finish Line's stainless jacks are bent, not welded . . . no back gassing required.

This is a good fun project. I made mine from 6mm aluminium plate. A friend got some plate water cut using a quick jack he got from Finish line or somewhere as a template. He had a few sets cut so I grabbed a set and welded mine together. I changed the shape a little as they were a little long in my opinion.

This was one of my first attempts at welding aluminium with the MIG. It turned out pretty good. I've bought an AC/DC TIG now so there's no need to mess around with the MIG on aluminium any more.

Since this picture I've linished them and given them a brushed finish rather than polished.

Cheers
