To add a bit of spice to the mix, check out the jacks on the #98 car shown on page 59 of Friedman's book, "Cobra". Car is shown up on the quick jack and you can see all four nuts from one view, some of the shapes you can get are a bit off. In addition, they are tucked right in close to the body, front and rear, no ugly post to look at...seems some those extended posts folks put on their cars aren't competition correct...so if some one wants to be period correct..time to go back to Friedman's book (and computerworks gallery) and look at the real racing pictures.

I will only relay what a very authorative Mr. Mcgoo, wait that was McDoo, said. According to his mythology, the 289 cars had them on the outside with the lift points inward. However, once again from his mammory, something that had to do with the lower scoop on the 427 made them have to be reversed. I won't take a stand, just repeating words from an older person than I. I have bumpers, so I didn't have to make that decision...or get the scars apparently.

So we conclude (this is 1965):

If you use the bumper jack, and still have the one from last season from your 289, aim for the same spacing between the jacking points for your 427.

Does that make sense?
Are the mounting points spaced differently from 289 to 427?
