Default Street Cobra Fuel Filler

Thanks to 428Street I became aware of the different type fuel filler used
on the street Cobra's like the ERA I'm waiting for delivery of. The Norton Commando bike fuel caps are reproduced and fairly easy to find but I did have some problem finding the fuel neck the cap mounts on. I finally located a Bike parts company in England that had them and the caps. If anyone else is going through this and having problems finding a filler neck to use with the cap here is a source

http://www.burtonbikebits.net/petrol_tank_caps.htm

06-681B 68-8190 non-locking gas cap.

06-681A fuel tank neck.

I'm getting some shortly to have complete assemblies of 427 and 289 caps. If you're as detail oriented as Frank you'll have the smooth button on your cap. That can be acheived by removing the ribs and rechroming.

Yes, I think that is when Frank says "if you want to get crazy about this." I'm probably going to live with the ribs for awhile. He's been very informative and a great help with details - but I think Peter at ERA is going to stop taking my calls or worse if I talk to Frank much more.

Dan that's funny! You're in good shape stuck between those two kooks. I do some of Franks parts too so feel free to bug me about street cars, I love them. Hey Frank how's the tank straps shaping up?

Good buddy. I have an "appointment" with ERA as soon as they make room for my car to get them fit for final placement. Doug has them 95% but he said he wants to have my car in shop to drill the holes, etc. He was impressed with them.

I still need to tackle the "axel rod covers" I think thats what they're called...Still have the one you sent me FPO...

Still fishing so once the ice comes I'll redirect into Cobra and finding parts again...

Radius rod covers pal, no worries we'll work it all out. If you were tough you'd put a hole in the ice and keep fishing! Nah that would leave you no tinkering time, I like your approach and you've had a good driving season. How many miles now?
Did you smooth your button or get it that way?

I have about 1800 miles since March...good times.

I bought a cap off an original Norton Commando which came smooth, so I did not need to "smooth" it out on my own...

Hey Frank - I tried to avoid mentioning your name when speaking with Peter. But about half way through one conversation I sensed he knew what was up and I said, "Well - I've been talking to some of the Club Cobra forum guys" - and he said "I know". Your right - he does think your crazy.

Definitely thinks I'm crazy! Have fun with the car, it's a great piece of machinery.
