Summer Run 8 in Lake George, NY, July 8 - 11, 2010
8th Annual Summer Run
July 9, 10 and 11, 2010
Hotel info:
The run will be held at the Fort William Henry in Lake George NY. We have a room block under SUMMER RUN. If you call please ask for Roberta to get the blocked rate.
Phone# 800-234-0267 9-5 monday-friday

This is a very busy resort town in the summer. Please don't think that you will be able to just show up friday and get a room (it wont happen) Don't wait untill the last minute for your reservation or you will get shut out.
Here are links to some of the past years videos so first timers can get a feel for what it's all about.

Anyone in Elizabethtown, NY area that could check for a lunch place that can handle us for lunch on Saturday?
Also we're discussing t-shirts or golf shirts - any preferences? Thinking of getting Ted to emroider for us.

I would love to do the full run but my 15 yr old son is racing a Sprint Car in New Hampshire on the 9th. I will be back in Elizabethtown on the morning of the 10th. I would like to hook up with you in Etown.
There is only 1 sit down restaurant in town open on Saturdays. It is called the Deer's Head Inn and is located in a small historic Hotel. The food is good but it is a little pricey. I am guessing around $20 per person. I will be happy to check with them and see what they could do for us.
I would be happy to host Pizza, Dogs, and Hamburgers at my home wich is 1.5 miles out of town. But, I should tell you that I have a half mile gravel driveway. My Cobra has 5 inches of clearance. I idle up the road with out a problem. My log home is very modest has a small dining and living area, an attached deck and small screened porch. I could handle around 16 people. So, depending on the size of the group this could be an option. I am good with what ever you would like to do and am looking forwared to meeting some other Cobra people! John

Sorry about the link. Here are a couple from Randy and Julie:

BB - it's a low key event where everyone goes just to have a good time with great cars and friends in a beautiful place. Most arrive on Friday a.m. and hang around in Lake George. The first night, Greg gets the hotel to put on a dinner. Sat morning, we all line up at the Fort and take the drive - somewhera around 120 miles of windy roads with some open spaces to let our cars breath. Sat, early afternoon, we have a cookout at the Fort. Sat night, folks split up and go to their favorite restaurant and usually meet at Christies for a drink (or 3, 4, etc...). It's a short walk back to the Fort. Sun morning, we cruise to the top of the mountain, stopping for pics along the way at scenic vistas. We then have lunch and journey back home. Oh, almost forgot - they have some great go carts and we usually hit them both Fri and Sat night after dinner. Some get booted out, some don't but most try.
Hope this helps,
Henry

John,
Thanks for the offer of your house - we typically have too many (around 50 or so) people - do you know any restaurants in the vicinity that can handle more folks?

Henry, I checked on 2 restaurants in Elizabethtown. The first is the Deer's Head. It is open on Saturday and can accomodate about 50 people. Food is upscale, about $20 per person.
The second is the Arsenal Inn. It is a Diner that is normally open for breakfast and lunch only, and only during the week. It seats 50. The owner said that he would open for us if he knew for sure that we would be there. It has burgers, sandwiches, soups, ect. The food is pretty good, prices are around $7-8 per meal.
Other than that you are probably looking at Lake Placid for more selection. It is 29 miles from Etown. Take Care, John

John,
We're going to stick to the original plan this year. We'll all talk about it while at the event to see if we want to change it and maybe have breakfast at hotel, go for ride and eat at restaurant for lunch at about half way point.
Thanks for checking it out.
Anyone on the fence to come - you'll have a blast if you canmake it.
Henry

There's a chance I may be able to make it...any chance there are still rooms available? I would only be there Thursday night and drive back late Friday...

It ends up that I can't make the 17th. I have a trip that I will be on. For information, the 17th is Elizabethtown Days. There is a parade, fireworks, and several town events. It will be the busiest day of the year in this small town. Have a good trip. I hope to make it next year. John

Any word on if there will be a Summer Run 9? Haven't seen anything yet and was trying to plan vacation.
