Monterey to unveil Shelby tribute car during race day Sat

The release is a bit skimpy on info--is it a two seater or four seater? Is it scheduled for production? Well, I guess we'll all know next Saturday. Here's the release I got this morning via e-mail.

WHAT: Friends of Carroll Shelby will unveil a one-off vehicle created in tribute to American icon Carroll Shelby for a lifetime devoted to high performance automobiles.



WHEN: Friday, August 17, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. PDT



WHERE: Rolex Monterey Reunion Showcase Stage



SIGNIFICANCE: Edsel Ford, Jim Farley and Shelby American President John Luft will unveil the Carroll Shelby tribute vehicle and will share a few words in honor of Carroll Shelby.

Ford will not have a rig, but rather two pavilions. One in the paddock (focus on the original Cobra and story of how it all began) and another in the Expo Marketplace (covering Shelby & other Cobras, Mustang, and Ford Racing).

A 'one off vehicle' from Ford in tribute to Carroll Shelby …

Well I would guess a tribute car based on CSX2000. If not that, then the GT-40 or Ford GT and if not that then the GT-350? Those three pretty well cover the bases from the Ford perspective, so one of those would seem likely.

Then again could be something truly original, will just have to wait and see, nice idea!
