Default Palos Verdes concours Sept. 14th has Shelby cars class

If you haven't been to this concours, you have a treat because it is kind of like Pebble Beach, on the golf course by the ocean, but the price as spectator is far far lower, under $50. For that you get to see 200 cars in an incomparable setting. Palos Verdes peninsula is below Redondo Beach and sticks out into the ocean so it's cool there even if on the mainland it is in the 90s. I don't know if the Shelby class encompasses Shelby Mustangs as well as Cobras but go to their website and they might have a number you can call. I have seen Shelby at this event in the past so it's one he fully approved of. There's also a vendor row and food available there (though in the dining room it is at country club prices!). If you have never made it to Pebble Beach, this is a preview of that style event at far less cost and if you're from out of town, expect nearby hotel rooms in nearby Torrance, etc. to be well under $100 where on the Monterey peninsula guys spent several hundred for ordinary accomodations because the peninsula was full.

I managed to squeeze in a couple hours at the show and glad I did. I ran into my friend Luis from McCluskey. He introduced me to Andre Ahrle, who was there with his beautiful CSX3009 Essex Wire 427, along with a McCluskey Daytona, an original 428, and an original 289 owned by the heir to the MGM fortune (yes, that MGM). I was hobnobbin with folks who had more than two nickels to rub together. I asked around if anyone knew patrickt but no one did
The first pic [below] was from my iPhone and turned out to be black and white (it does that sometimes). Only one came out semi decent.
The color pic is Luis' wife getting a ride in Ollie. Apparently I missed out on that opportunity because I had to leave
Beautiful day nonetheless.
