Default Shelby to Appear at New G.T.500E Factory Grand Opening

TEXAS SHELBY G.T.500E FACTORY TO HOST PUBLIC GRAND OPENING FESTIVITIES

Carroll Shelby Scheduled to Appear

DALLAS – September 10, 2003 – The official Shelby “Eleanor”
G.T.500E manufacturing facility will host grand opening festivities on Saturday, October 18, 2003, in Farmers Branch, Texas. A performance car show, appearance by Carroll Shelby, factory tours, special displays and other activities will be featured from 10 AM to 3 PM. The G.T.500E, which is similar to the car seen in the hit movie Gone in 60 Seconds, is the newest vehicle to bear the legendary Shelby name.

The new facility houses Sanderson Sales & Marketing, which is responsible for marketing the cars, and Unique Performance, which builds the Shelby products. The companies moved from their old facility into the new location in mid July 2003 and opened production in early August.

A performance car show featuring vehicles such as Cobras, Panteras, Thunderbirds, Vipers Corvettes and Porsches will surround the new factory. A portion of the fees to display a vehicle in the show will benefit the Carroll Shelby Children’s Foundation. Admittance to view the show is free to the public. The factory is located at 13950 Senlac Drive in Farmers Branch, Texas.

The Shelby G.T.500E is similar in outward appearance to the
G.T.500’s sold in the 1960’s by Shelby American, one of
which was replicated for the movie “Gone In 60 Seconds”.
None of the G.T.500Es appeared in the movie. As authentic
Shelbys, the continuation G.T.500E cars receive a Shelby
VIN and will be included in the next official Shelby
American World Registry.

To build the Shelbys, vintage 1967 and 1968 Ford Mustangs are “rescued” for transformation by Unique Performance. The continuation cars follow the strategy established by Shelby Automobiles, which combined their products with those from top automotive companies. Modern technology featured in the cars includes a powerful V8, performance brakes, roll bar, stereo, 17” wheels, side exhaust, air conditioning and sequential taillights. A “Super Snake” version is available with an aluminum 525 horsepower Shelby 427 FE motor; a Shelby Performance designed supercharger is optional that allows the big block motor to pump out over 725 earth-shaking horsepower.

Additional information about the show is available at www.uniqueperformance.com or by calling Scott Black at
(214) 520-3430.

It would be so much cooler if they were making inexpensive 65-70 replicas. Not shelby replicas per say, but actual rust free replicas. Inexpensive coupes, fastbacks and convertibles. No restoration needed. No 30 years of half assed repairs, bondo, rust, faded paint, shopping cart dings, old wiring, stuck bolts, worn seats, etc.
