I will host a seminar on the proper way to make a Reuben sandwich.

It is an art.

The Carnegie Deli way? 2 pounds of corned beef on a couple of thin slices of Rye? No thanks.

If there is a better way, then OK.

I wouldn't mind somebody doing a seminar on how to change the oil. NO, I AM NOT KIDDING!!!
And, how to 'do' the safety wire tool that looks really nice sitting in my bag.
And, how to do basic looky-see maintenance checks on the car.

I know these things are probably auto101 to ya'll.....

I'll be the first to step up and offer a seminar on scrapbooking!!!!
you know, keep your wives entertained and busy....

Since I would guess a large percentage of the people there would have a complete kit, you could focus a lot on the upgrading & upkeep aspect:

Basic fiberglass maintenance/repair
Cleaning techniques/products
Paint care (or maybe that's what you meant by paint tech)
Suspension tuning/setup - alignments, camber/toe-in/caster, adjustable springs, 4 link & adjustable a-arm, etc.

Proper etiquette while waiting at the next stoplight for a ricer (or vette) to catch up....

No need for a tech session for that one. I usually take that abundant time to balance the check book!

Tire tech, suspension set-up and fire suppression would be great!

Couple of pounds of corned beef on rye and a couple of XX's...mmmm...

Rob,

OK...I'm hijacking it back...

I may be beating a sore horse to death here (not to mention mixing metaphors) but... Re. the Main Street drag racing thing...

It's been a very popular event in the past, and with good reason, but there have been several scary moments and it doesn't take much imagination to envision the situation getting dangerously out of hand. I'm not advocating holding or cancelling the event this year; that's up to you guys and the town of London. I'm just wondering: Would a parking lot autocross type of event possibly provide the same kind of "Vroom...Screech" entertainment in a safer setting, by keeping speeds down? Is there somewhere in the downtown area which might be appropriate for such an event?

If this topic has been covered in another thread...sorry, don't mind me...

Lowell

How about doing a 4 wheel alignment, with some string, tape measure and a bubble gauge?

The seminar idea sounds great. I think you guys have a good concept here. Great to sit down at any event for a break.

To have a few guest speakers would be good.

My only thought is don't make it hard for us to decide which seminar to attend. Just do a few good seminars following each other?? Maybe in the same location/conference centre.

They could run over a day and we could select a seminar and time and attend.

I would find it hard if you had two or three good speakers/topics on at the same time in different locations....

Sounds like a great event coming up.

Rob is in Fresno at the moment. I am sure when he gets back he will pick up on this thread.
Thanks

I think its a great idea and your suggested topics are good. Someone brought up oil changes, what about some discusion on the proper oils, weight, types-Synthetic vs. non synthetic- filters gearlubes. If someone brings a good reuben sandwich all the better.

Rob

the session list looks good. Will be keen to do the driving session and the suspension.

All look good topics though.

Red

The oil session is always a good one. I recently attended a Castrol oil launch and they covered viscosity, synthetic versus etc. etc.

It was a good session and many of us left knowing what oils we should be using for our engines and types of driving and racing.

Guess I'm saying I would attend one again..

Now Reuben sandwiches....guess I'll find out soon enough...

OH Bernie!some things you just have to come to the states for. you have never had a reuben sandwich!!!??? crunchy, sharp, sour, sour kraut, melted swiss cheese, loads of corn beef, thick toasted rye bread, dressing dripping out the sides. my mouth is watering just thinking about it. And the best part.... an ice cold beer or 2 or 3 . makes anything taste good!
