While constantly thinking of ways to squeeze some cash out of your wallets for the charities
.....I have an idea.
This is the concept for discussion:
A voluntary raffle event called: "The Serpent in the Pit Drawing".
Anyone can bring items that will be raffled. Clean out your shops and bring the stuff that you no longer need...but don't want to throw out. For example...bring that old rusty 427 SO block in the corner....or maybe a steering wheel...some tools...books...a bag of cookies....whatever.
All the the donated items (whatever they are) will be displayed on tables for public viewing. Each item will have an informative note card from the donor with a brief description of the item. Each item will have a box for raffle tickets. We willl sell raffle tickets ...say $1.00 each ......120 tickets for $100...or whatever. Then you drop your tickets into the boxes of the items you wish to win. We will draw the winning ticket from each box and you claim your prize. All of the ticket sales go to the charity. The raffle winners score something to take home and the donors get rid of some junk.
Each item will be displayed to give recognition to the donor. So if you are a vendor and wish to promote your product... your donation will be publicly posted. Also...if you're the smuck that donates a box of rocks..
..then consequently...you'll be recogonized. Hopefully the note card will be helpful to recognize the donor as well as to increase the items demand by clearly describing it's significants.
The sky is the limit on what you can donate. It can be memorabilia, tools, services, books, auto parts...gift certificates...whatever. We'll put it on the table and give it away.
This is not a new concept... I've heard it called "Iron in the Hat" and I've seen it done with great success at other events.
not an auction...but a raffle where anyone can win with a single ticket.
Does this make any sense....? whattaya think?
Sincerely,
Rob
