Default Open Track weekend in Iowa July 2009

For those from the midwest who always complain about having to drive half way across the country to attend events, we have a solution for you. Come to the Mid America Motorplex just south of Council Bluffs, Iowa, the weekend of July 18-19, 2009 and join a group of car nuts for what many believe is the most legal fun you can have outside a bedroom. Here's the link:

http://www.mustangclubofcentraliowa.org/09mam.htm

We have a lot planned for the weekend - 2 full days of open track, a Roush vehicle reunion, a Vintage Trans-Am exhibition and race, Sat. night BBQ at the track, and all the amenities that the Omaha/Council Bluffs area has to offer.

Free instructors are provided for first-timers. Run groups for everyone from the raw beginner to the seasoned veteran. Give our event a try - you won't go home disappointed.

Hummmmm! Nice and hot but a great track to go to for a lot of reasons including for those of you that have never been on a track before there is plenty of run off ...you know just in case! Great group of guys that put on the event. I attended the track with the Northwoods Shelby and Cobra Club the first two years it was open. Maybe I can make it back this year if I can get all my efforts going in the right directions.

Clois
You're right - it is a great track. Wide and safe, and plenty of track time.

It can be hot in Iowa in July, but out of the seven years we've held our event there, only one was hot. Better hot than rainy. We have a guy who takes care of the weather.....

WildBill
You live so close - why not call this your home track? We'd be happy to have you.

I noticed in the Rules it is a pay for the other guys car if you wreck them.Does this mean this is a passing zone event were you can pass anywhere on track or are there specific places to pass- straights, certain turns ect with a waive by?

Passing is allowed on the four straights with a wave by. Gentleman's rules.

Use of a transponder is included in Saturday's registration. We have about 20 for loan to those that don't have their own.

Default Registration is now open!

Just a note to let you all know that registration is now open for this event. We have added the ability for you to register and pay online. Of course you can also print out a registration form and mail it in, or wait and register at the event. There is a substantial savings by registering early, though. Here's the link:

WildBill3
We will have early registration and Tech at the track from 4-6 PM Friday.

Yep, you can drop the car/trailer off at the track at the same time. We have security all weekend from 6PM Fri thru 6PM Sunday. Most everyone leaves their stuff out at the track. There are several drivers who bring motorhomes and stay all weekend, too.

Glad to see you're coming. Look forward to meeting you.
Doug

Default 4 days to go!

The weather looks good, no rain forecast and temps in the mid 80's. Should be perfect. If you haven't registered yet, belly up to the bar and come play with us in the Heartland. You won't regret it.

Default Did you miss it?

Well, it's in the history books now.

Another successful open track weekend. For those that attended, thanks for your support. For those who chose not to come, you should have. The weather was perfect, the track smooth and fast, and the drivers were fantastic.

Put July 17-18, 2010, on your calendar now and plan to attend.
