You mean like this? This is a new set of webers but what you are looking for and should be setup really close from the factory

Boy, that's one expensive manifold and linkage setup!
Seller says buy it now for $4500. New Webs cost $585.00 each. So,
585X4 = 2340.
4500 - 2340 = 2160.
What am I missing?

Linkage and manifold are an additional $1000 probably. I know I payed $3000 for mine and then had to put another $3000 into getting everything refurbed. And of course I probably have $1000 in parts for these freakin things too
I didn't say they were the best price...he just asked for some :b

Alot depends on the engine...What type of cam do you have in yours? If you like the lope lope lope then you aren't going to like the webers....any exhaust leaks will drive you nuts.
They should be setup as follows...now remember these are the new ones so you don't have to change much.
37 mm chokes
4.5 aux. venturi
135 main jet
F7 Emulsion tube
120 air corrector
70 F10 idle jet
50 pump jet
000 (closed exhaust valve)
2.0 needle and seat
You will probably want to change the needles and sets...the pump jet may need to be a 55 but you start with 50 the idle jets a little large and the mains are a little small. The chokes should be ok. You will need to add fuel lines but if you don't do AN fittings that won't be much. I bet you will have to put another $1000 in parts to finish it and have jets and stuff set right. Remember jets sound cheap but you need 8 of each one
Getting them tuned is the hard part once done I haven't had any problems with them. I would suggest that if you are in an area that gets alot of dirt you steer clear of them....I run mine without filters because they are so restrictive. Also you don't want to get caught out in the rain...remember water comes in through the scoop...oh and they don't get crap for gas milage.
Horsepower...nope..I actually lost 6 now I don't know if it was the pipes or carbs but I picked up 40lb/ft of torque...my guess is the pipes...the change with the carbs is the instant a quick throttle response...my car raps through the rpm range now...I used to never hit redline...I can't punch it without hitting it now.

I was just on Finish Line's web-site. They sell 48 IDA Webers for $1250 each. $1250 X 4 = $5000. That does not include the intake manifold which is about $500, plus linkage, plus trial and error $$$ for jets, chokes, tubes, etc. I'd say $4500 is a fair price for a good used set up. BTW I have a set sitting on my shelf, they were on a Contemporary with a 427 S/O (MR). I bought them to use on a Kirkham FIA, but went with a Kirkham 427 instead. My 427 S/O is a LR, 2 X 4V, so I'd have to change the heads to use the Webers. I might be persuaded to part with them.

why will exhaust leak drive me nuts?,idont drive her in the rain i can barely keep it on the road when its dry, (and i dont have a top) and i dont get crap for mileage now! 4 or 5 mpg!!!that should be a whole different topic.seems like a lot of work and $$ for no extra hoarses.since i posted this i have found through a local speed shop :webers$ 275 manifold w/linkage $650 what am i missing ?do they come without the internals?? hard to believe finish line is marking up that much

I would almost bet they come without internals or they will need a complete rebuild and thats $500/carb unless you do it and I didn't want to try the machine work. Basically you have no runners on your manifold with these carbs...if you have exhaust leaks then you will get alot of backfire through the pipe and the carb both.
You also want to make sure what type of webers they are trying to sell you...48IDA's and you have to make sure that they haven't been mangled by some VW guys....they like to bore holes in them for something or other.
Hey I don't have a top either but I drove in the rain

ill have to try a rain drive soon, i guess it could be fun if i kept the speed down a bit.

Hey Matt, What set up did you end up with on your Webers? Mine don't pop but the engine sure runs rich to me. If I drop down to a 50 idel jet the engine idels to lean and pops. My main jetting is at 160. What do your plugs look like? Mine are sure dark and sooty looking.
160 main jets
55 by pass
60 idel jet
37 mm chokes
120 air correctors
F-7 E-Tubes
I am glad I have a MSD to add the extra fire power so that the plugs don't foul out.
Take care!
Dan H
