Default Nitto 555R Drag tires - anyone interested in a bulk buy?

I am looking at buying 20 sets of Nitto 555R Drag Radials from www.discounttiredirect.com - mainly the 275/60/15, 245/45/17, 275/40/17, 315/35/17 sizes, with some 305/45/18s thrown in as well.

I want to contact Discount Tire to see what sort of discount would be available on bulk purchases, and whether they would ship to individual addresses as part of this bulk buy.

Is anyone looking at buying these tires in the next 4 to 6 weeks?

Here are the prices, direct from DTD's website. I'd like to get an idea of numbers required, then see what DTD have to say about a discount...

205/55R-14 $90.00

P245/45R-17 94V $158.00

245/50R-16 $138.00

275/40R-17 $158.00

P275/50R-15 101V $154.00

275/60R-15 107V BLK $141.00

305/45R-18 110V B $240.00

315/35R-17 102V $183.00

I can be reached at cobraracer@yahoo.com

If this post is not suitable for this forum, I apologise, and ask that it be removed. I'm just trying to save some money on getting a large number of these unobtainable tires to Australia. If everyone can save a decent amount, all the better!

Thanks,

Hi Craig,

I'd be interested in a pair of the 315/35/17s. Let me know what the deal is and what you need. my email address is lm.murphy@bigpond.com

Cheers

No worries Mike - I figured you'd be in on it. Todd from DTD looks like he's going to do a really good deal for us. I'm making some phone calls about the best shipping container pricing.

There are a couple of Nissan GTR guys in melbourne that are interested in getting in on this deal, too. They were planning on getting TNT to freight the tyres from Brisbane to Melbourne. Once we're a little closer to closing the deal, I'll get everyone's email addresses together so you can arrange the interstate side of things with them.

Bill at FFcobra.com has already worked out a deal with DTD. You need to call;

Todd Holzwarth
Discount Tire Direct
(888)459-4080 ext 414

I just paid $297 for two Nitto DR's 315/35/17 shipped to my door. Tell them you want the FFcobra.com discount.

Thanks, Jim. I emailed Todd a week or so ago, and I mentioned that I've seen his deals on FFCobra and Corral.net. Hey, I'll drop as many website names as possible to get a deal.

He really looked after you with those 315s. He quoted me a slightly higher price for those, and I'd be buying 16 of them..... I might have to send him another email!

Hi Craig,

Been thinking a bit lately (probably a bad thing) and visiting a big hot rod show today got me thinking some more (probably a really bad thing).

I still think about the 17" Boyd Coddington Smoothies I put on my wifes Jag. I was talking to Tony at AJ's wheels where I bought them and he showed me the 20" version they just got in. The pic below is the 20 sitting above the 17s, awesome aren't they (I'm probably compensating for something here).

So.... How much can these tyre guys do a set of rear tyres in 285/30/20 and fronts in 245/35/20. I believe Bridgstone and Dunlop make tyres in these sizes but there are probably others as well.

Cheers.

Mike - Those hotrod guys sure like a big rim, don't they!!!
Without emailing Todd @ DTD, their retail price is
Falken GR Beta FK-451 $260
Yokohama AVS Sport $309
Pirelli P-Zero System $319 for the 285/30/20.
Take off a healthy discount for the bulk order, and the freight component will cost very little.

245/35 are in the $230+ bracket, but you get many more options with 245/40 (same price bracket).

I emailed wheelboyz about the Coddingtons a month or two ago, and they don't bring them in anymore. How much do AJ's charge for the 17, 18 and 20" smoothies??? You've gotta love those 20s!!!

Hi Craig,

The 20" Smoothies are about $950 a wheel. I paid about $550 each for my 17s. A bit pricey but Tony makes them up in any offset you want.

I'll probably still stick to my original 17" hallibrand plan after all they guys on the other thread accused me of being a "Gangsta home boy" or something like that.

Cheers

Hey Homie - have you seen the new 18" bolt-on Halibrands? About $300AUD each, plus shipping and 10% GST and 15% duty. Cheap!!!!! Ford stud pattern.

Does Tony use Boyd's centres and fit them to his owned rolled alloy rims?

18" Halibrands for $300+++ Each...Tell me more!!!

Do they come in different offsets and widths? An 18" hallibrand is a compromise that I think would be just the ticket. Combine them with those 305/45/18s on the rear and I reckon it would look just the ticket.

Tony gets the centers and the rims from Boyd and assembles them to the customers requirements. AJ's wheels is right next door to Eastern Wheel works and I think it's sort of a joint venture. He's got a couple of differnt style of rim now. The new ones like the 20 and one of the 17s below have a rolled lip that has a smooth finish. Also the center doesn't mount on the step in the rim it's larger and mounts on the flat outer part. This gives a cleaner finish and makes the wheel look even bigger. Check out the difference between the two 17" rims below the 20, they are both the same size rim.

Cheers

Mike - no and no. They only come in an 18x9" size with 34mm offset. (NOT a deep dish)

http://www.discounttiredirect.com/dt...ductType=WHEEL Click on Halibrand.

Here's what a guy from another Cobra website wrote a week or so ago :

Just got my HALIBRANDS tonight (thanks todd). they are beautiful! excellent quality too. Here's the skinny: bright polished rim and web face surface. gray (epoxi paint) web center. similar offsets and backspace to cobra r's (NOT deep dished)17x9's. the most beautiful chrome center cap in the shape of a hex center lug, engraved with:HALIBRAND ENGINEERING est. 1947. no glow in the dark snakes or taky logos."halibrand-cobra III" is tastfully cast in the hub area.

Oh, and I looked at your Coddington photo. I see what you mean about the different look - and I also spotted Santa in the background. If I'm good this year, he might bring me some of the 20s after all!!!!

Andy,
Yahoo mail doesn't like your email address. It went straight through to my "Bulk Mail" - listing it as effectively junk mail. My reply came back undelivered the first time, but it seemed to work the second time....

Anyway, I sent off an email to Todd at DTD the day I received your email. I haven't received a reply, but I would bet that they don't carry the spinners.

A guy in Melbourne is bringing in the container of Nittos, and I can get him to include anything that you require. I'm sure that Finishline could line these up for you, as I've heard some dodgy reports about delivery delays when buying direct from Halibrand...

If and when you're ready, I'll send you the Melbourne guy's phone number and email for you to contact him direct. At least it'll save a little in freight costs if you can pick it up direct from him.

See you,
Craig
