Default Toploader with correct shifter/linkage

I have a complete toploader setup that I just took out of my car for my upgrade to a Tremec. I ran this setup for about 7K miles and it shifts good through all gears. Transmission Code RUG-M1 from a 67 Mustang 390 wide ratio10-spline Input, 28-spline output. The unit includes rebuilt shift linkage and the "correct" 427 reverse shifter.

A new setup like this would cost you$1850 w/o exchange, $1450 with a core.

I would like to sell the setup complete for $875 +shipping.

Thanks,
Mike "monster"

Mike, would you consider selling the linkage only. Captn-T

do you have any pictures?

I'm needing a toploader for a 289 car but it needs to have some specific traits.

It needs to have the narrow bolt pattern for the 5bolt bellhousing, a short shaft, the top mounting hole for the linkage needs to be at about 5.5" from the back of the main case. Obviously the lingage would do me no good

I was hoping to keep everything together, since I know how hard it was to get the matching linkage for my transmission and I'm sure someone is just getting to the point in their build where they need a complete unit. But I will consider it if I don't hear any interest in the complete setup.

Tongue Pirate- Here is what I pulled from David Kee's site:

The gear box was built in 3 case lengths. The 1964-65 Fairlane, T.V.R., Griffith, and Sunbeam Tiger case is 25-1/2" long. The AC Cobra with 427 and 428, all Mustangs, Falcons, Mavericks, Cougars, 1966-67 Fairlanes and Comets use 24 " transmissions, while all full size cars and the 428, 429 Cyclone and Torino use the 27" box. The 1964 Toploader used a small 4 hole maincase with the small O.D. bearing retainer. All 1965-73 cases were wide 8 hole cases with the large O.D. bearing retainer.

I will check it out but it appears that I have the 24" wide version however, it looks like you need a 1964 case.

Thanks,
Mike

BTW: I'll get some pictures together in the next day or so.

Jay,

I've considered Ebay, but I wanted to first give folks here a chance, since it's complete with linkage etc and all set up for a Cobra. I'm not worried about getting "my price" since I feel that I've priced it fairly.

Thanks,
Mike

Makes me sick. I sold an 8-hole toploader in 1979 for $100...with linkage.

I know........I've heard some stories of people buying CSX cars for a few hunderd bucks too.............................however that was back in the early seventies

take care,
Mike

BTW: PLAN "B" it appears that no one here needs a complete setup, so I will be breaking up the offer and placing it on EBAY

Rule of 7's. That hundred should have doubled to $200.00 in 1986. Then doubled again in to $400.00 in 1993. Then it should have doubled again to $800.00 in the year 2000. See Rock Snake your right there!!
