Guys... enough of this.
Like the Cars For Sale Forum, there should be no discussions on a "for sale" thread, just legitimate questions from potential buyers to the seller....
..not a pissing match.
He's got something for sale... want it? send him an e-mail.
don't want it? ...move on.
thanks
Ron

......OK, moving on......but it was an interesting discussion on how to tell the difference between motors, and in that regard, applicable to the thread.
I'd post the pics for you but I'm on a dialup in Maui until Monday. Someone should be able to post 'em for you.

I emailed super_kit_car and he sent me some pics of a Cobra and a Lamborghini replica along with a couple of engines and a hopped up Mustang. I've tried to attach them but I keep getting an error message. Is there a current problem with attachments Ron?

Ernie... you are right... it is an interesting topic, but this is the wrong place for it. We need to respect the classified forums' purpose. Start a new thread in All Cobra or FE Forum and continue the discussion.
Buzz, et al.. the Gallery / Pic Attach software is currently down. Brent has been advised.

Hey Ron, break the post up and start a new thread with the left overs!! I think thats a great idea! You do that well and this is an issue worthy of further exploration. To bad it got "ugly" the way it did.

Well, you said get my facts straight. Do you not tire of being incorrect almost all the time? Generally those with questionnable knowledge have the sense to refrain from making such bold statements--oh well.
FYI, No 390 Hipo blocks had cross-bolts. No PI blocks had them either. THe only blocks with cross-bolts are almost all 427's (not all have them) and some very late (63 1/2) 406's. I have had several 406's and have never seen them, but they do exist.
BTW, I am from your neck of the woods--give me the shop address and I will send a friend over Monday to take a look. Let me know.
Sorry Ron.

Ron / Computerworks,
I'm sure I don't want this guys motor, so I'll move on.
However, I do believe the forum members play an important function when they call bull$hit on a questionable item posted for sale.
Keeps an unsuspecting buyer from getting burnt.

I have heard there were 4 bolt 390's, back in the days of early street racing. there was a guy in my area that was supposed to have had a 390/401hp 4 bolt 63 galaxy never seen his motor but that what was said of his car. i could see this being possible with all the experimenting with different combinations in those days, after all they all are essentially the same motor. I can confirm the 406/405 tri-power 4 bolt, for I used to have one.

There's a big difference between having one and hearing about one.
I think I've made my point. I'm done.

that was my point traveller, soneone had said earlier that there were no 390/401hp 4 bolt motors, I said there were. I have had a 406 and 427 both had four bolts, have not seen a 390 but was said to have existed. I like you believe these motors were built.

What was the rumor about an aluminum 390 in the Flip Top Cobra? The FIRST big block Cobra motor?

I agree with Russ, I thinks the forum should be more tolerant of new people making posts. If you don't agree with what is posted, you don't always have to respond in a way that is amusing to yourself. It has never ceases to amaze me how eager some folks are to show how smart and clever they are. Now take George Anderson from Gessford Machine. A very knowlegible man about FE engines. He never is in a hurry to cut someone down with what he knows. I have a Tunnel-port engine. I have referred to it as a NASCAR Tunnel port because it was designed for the NASCAR track, also ran at LeMans. Nothing in or on my engine, with the exception of the intake could have ever seen a NASCAR track. I believe that my intake was a NOS piece. Folks please be more tolerant with new members. Say what you want to say in a more friendly tone. The word LIAR is most inappropriate.

to my understanding, they started in 1962 with the British AC, modified by shelby with a modified 289 Hi Po. then came the legend 1963 427 AC. I have never read anywhere about a 390 in a orignal cobra. no mention of one on shelby's site.

I think technically they started with a 260 ci motor.
