Question New Matched Set Carter AFB Carbs

I'm looking for information concerning a matched set of Carter AFB carbs. These two carbs are new and still in the the plastic & cardboard back. I purchased a disassembled 1965 mustang that had been sitting for a least 20 years in a garage. To my surprise there were these 2 brand new carters and a dual quad Cobra stamped manifold. The Cobra manifold is used and I believe was purchased from a dealership to be used on this old GT mustang. I haven't been able to get any reliable information concerning these carbs. What fords they were used on? rarity? desireability? serviceability? dependibilty? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Lee.

A Carter is in my opinion a tuners dream. Very well designed and unlimited adjustabilities, also a track parts kit will give you all the jets and metering rod combos you will need. On the down side all the adjustments let you screw it up big time if you just start changing things unlike the Semi controlable fuel leak (Holley) that is plug and play.
As to right for your engine that will take much more info. The list # on the choke horn or top left if a comp series will get you started on research. Web has some great places and will also tell if you have RARE carbs as well.

I ran a Cobra 2-4 set up on a '65 Hi-po 289 'stang I owned back in '70. It was a great set-up, good response and decent mileage when my foot wasn't do heavy. After years of tuning other peoples Holleys, I tell folks, that ask first,to use an AFB (also now edelbrock).
