Aluminum Comp Seat Done *Photo's*
Finally, the seats are done. Take a look at the construction of this beauty. Welded by an expert and stitched by an artist, this incredibly strong seat is not only functional in giving you extra leg room and helping you control your car more effectively but, is more comfortable than the "Standard Issue" Cobra seat. The bucket comes with dense foam adhered and the cover is foam backed.
THEY ONLY WEIGH 11 LBS These seats are made exclusively for Ken Miles Ltd under the authority of Peter Miles. Each seat comes with a neat Serial Tag and a Certificate of Authenticity signed by Peter Miles and a scan of the Ken Miles signature. They are MADE IN THE USA by the welder who makes all the seats for NASCAR. All seats are custom made to your personal measurements like a tailor made suit. Mounting instructions will be included. A common mount cannot accomodate all shapes and sizes. DANG!!! That's downright purty Stevie Boy!
...now if I only had a bottom oiler 427 Cobra to put it in.  |
Johnny
Ken Miles used this seat design in the 289's and GT 350's as well.

I must say, that is a hell of a price! Some of the crappy glassfibre seats I looked at were more $$$. Anyone after the vintage look and feel would be nuts to pass-up one of these.Beautyous!!!

Re:
Looks really sharp! How does this style of seat compare to traditional Cobra seats in comfort and support? Thanks Bluedog.

I raced my Cobra with the standard seat. In my opinion, it has no support and will not allow proper security with shoulder straps. The Comp Seat although aluminum, is dense foam lined in the shell and foam backed in the cover. Also, they are made to your personal measurements like a custom made suit. You will love it and the lateral support gives you a better feel for the car.

This was tuff to scan but, let me just say, it is gorgeous and will be attached to the rear outboard sides of each seat.

If I send a email to Ken .... will I get the form for the measurments..... and will they work for us men of Girth.... Morris |
Morris
E-mail away.
We love girth and will make the seat to your measurements and most importantly, to fit the car. K-thanks for the compliment. We try to do good on everything we do. Wait 'til you see the car. I think you will be amazed. |
How are the seats attached to the floor? They need a little incline to keep you in the seat under braking. And thr floor is flat.
|
Seat mounting
Instruction will come with the seats on how to mount. There will be 3/4" square tube rails that get attached to under the front of the seat(across the car) and at the lower back. Legs of the same tube will have to be measured cut and welded to either the floor tabs or to tabs on the seat tracks depending on the preference. It is no big deal and is not rocket science. Any average welder can do it and it is not as difficult as it sounds. When you see it, you will understand better. Since each Cobra kit has different mounts and all drivers want to sit differently, there is no way for a universal fit.

any pictures of the seats in a cobra???they look great!

How are the measurments taken, or which measurments are important? I am very interested. They look like they might allow me to sit lower in my KMP.

I do not have any photo's in a car yet because the only seat that exists is the one you see, the proto-type. There are 3 more in the making and a few of the CC members are potentially purchasing them but, have not yet.
They are exact in look and dimension to an Original Fiberglass Comp seat and can be seen in the Cobra History books in 427's, 289's and GT 350's as well as other Sports Car specials from the 60's. Ken Miles even had one in his Holman Moody Ford Galaxie that he had one race in. I have attached the measure chart if this helps in your decision. It will definately give the Big & Tall guys more room than a stock seat and will be a true cost effective alternative to changing foot boxes and pedal box location. |
