Regarding autolifters, we need 20 and we're only at 6 with commitments so far
Two are open to either lift...
I do have 45 on my list but some are dropping out as soon as they find out how expensive delivery is...
I'm trying to get people paired up to save on shipping and/or pickup!
Shipping is running 300 to 500 which is a good chunk of change!

Thanks to Coleman for all the hard work. I cant blame you for wanting to buy a lift thats made near where you live. To the others that are going to have them shipped please listen. I think the Autolifters is a better lift. Its wider AND the Allstar lift uses bushings instead of rollerbearings which Autolifters DOES use. SO for all those who are going to have theirs delivered if you join with us (we need 20 total) you WILL get a supperior lift for near the same money. Go to Autolifters.com and check out the lifts and remember, your going to have this for a long long time. If you are like me and only an Autolifter will do then email me @ Michael4yah@msn.com

I just sent out the information on Thursday...
I have too many boards to post up on, but you have certainly been more eager than most.
We're at 10 Autolifters, 5 AllStarLifts, 3 either, and 31 unknown.
I'll send out e-mail update tomorrow, but I will most likely stay in a holding pattern until the end of this week or we meet the minimum number for either group buy: 20 autolifters and 10 allstarlifts.
Michael4yah, you're one of the 31.

Coleman. I am in for the Autolifter M80XT. That should make 11. Guys, its just a better lift. Here is a paragraph from the Autolifter website:
"Autolifters, like our competitors, uses 10 pulleys on our 4-post lifts. Each pulley is fitted with either bushings or ball bearings. Autolifters uses the more expensive maintenance-free, sealed ball bearings (found in most commercial lifts). COMPARE: Our competitors use the cheaper bushings that require maintenance and care. The problem with bushings is if they become dry, they wear out very quickly; and with continued use, they cause damage to the lift. "That's 10 bushings to maintain or replace."

Michael4yah, I'll mark you down.
Also regarding the pulleys, I too was more impressed with ball bearings than bushings.
But after talking with AllStarLift's owner, he said that they used to use ball bearings but that the failure rate on them were substantially higher than the bushing. That is why AllStarLift is using the bushing style pulleys.
I'm not an engineer, so I don't know which is better under what circumstances.
Maybe there are cheap ball bearning pulleys and better ones.
Maybe bushings do require service. Maybe it's only based on use such that a hobbyist may never need to service such an item -- I don't know.
If you have any further information to share, please do so we can all benefit.
Since I've already said I was going to purchase an AllStarLift, I'm still going to do that ... but that doesn't mean that I can't upgrade the pulleys later ... cuz I do like to mod things!

On the bearing/bushing thing. As a hobbyist the need for bearings is greater because of its infrequent use. If the bushing dries out it wears out in a hurry. Companies that use the more expensive Bearings are not likely to scrimp when it comes to Cable/bolts/steel etc. Im looking for quality all down the line. If my family is going to be walking under it I want someones butt on the line and a Company that has a real track. To me its cheap insurance. We need 9 more, How many Allstar lift guys are willing to come over to our side to make this a done deal??

There are three that can go either way, but I don't want to request that they choose a specific lift until I hear back from more members...
I'd like to have enough for each group buy by this coming weekend.
I hope at least some of these 31 respond soon...

Coleman ! I just got off the phone with Richard who is the sales manager for Autolifters and he said that he nor anyone else there gave any deal like what you said. Kenneth Fredrickson another Club Cobra member got the same information when he called Richard. I think we deserve to know the truth about whats going on. Dont send any emails explaining this. Post it right here where we can all see it. Michael

Michael4yah, Autolifters is a group buy pricing for 20 units and it was done indirectly through one of the stake holders in Autolifters. But until we get the magic 20 number, don't expect to be able to order the lift at the group buy pricing... geez. I certainly hope you didn't ruin our chances with this group buy by trying to force the issue!

I am not involved in this group buy, but I think a few of you who are busting Coleman's chops should just go off and buy your lift on your own if you dont like the way he is handling the group buy.. he is probably sorry he even started this group buy... back in January 2005 I bought a Bendpak which is made in USA and someone on this board before checking into it was saying I would be sorry for buying something made in China...go figure.. as far as Coleman is concerned he has a lot more tolerance than I do... and I hope he gets his lift for free..

Coleman. All this cloak and dagger stuff is getting old. If this guy is a "stake holder" in the Company you'd think he would have at least told his head salesman of his intentions. You gave out Autolifters phone #. Didnt you think any of us would call them? And what did you think their head salesman would say?? Have this mystery "stake holder" call Richard ( Autolifters head of sales) on monday and relay to him what his intentions are. Weve already lost one Autolifter buyer. Ken Fredrickson went ahead and bought his today directly through the company. He said he was tired of the games.

Michael4yau,
Coleman is trying to do us all a favor and your a pain in the a---. Go buy your own lift. Coleman - I would urge you to emit him from your group purchase.

TRS, you know your absolutely right, Coleman, count me out . Now youve lost 2 autolifter buyers today because of all the stupid secrecy. Anyone buying something this big and expensive deserves to know who they are dealing with. TRS maybe you would buy something sight unseen from someone who is not known to the company but I wouldnt. Count me out.
