Default Complete Ford 390 Tri-Power Engine for Sale

I realize this is more of a galaxie engine but maybe someone is looking for something a little different.

I am listing this for a guy I know with a few FE parts. Supposedly he bought it at an estate sale of an old drag racer. It was running when he pulled it out and has been stored in his shop for years.

The shortblock is most likely a service replacement because the block has a date code of 71.

The heads, intake and carbs appear to be very complete and correct for a '61 - '62 Galaxie.

The engine is not stuck and believed to be a 390 (we measured the stroke and did a drill bit test in one core plug).

If someone wants it I'll go get it and bring it to Kansas City for pickup. Price is $3000.

Thanks, Chuck

Default Numbers

As far as I can tell he wants to sell it all together. I would part it out if I could make the numbers work.

The heads are C1AE-As and the date code on the one head we looked at is 2L23 (November 23, 1962)

The center carb is part number C1AE-9510-AV holley list number 2436. The two outer carbs are C1AE-9510-AU holley list number 2437.

Default Do the heads match?

What is your opinion on the date on the heads vs. the carburetors? Should they be C2 carburetors?

Thanks, Chuck

carbs are correct for a 390 3-2 set up.the heads are still up in the air the thing I don't like is they have aluim retainers I like unmolested parts better but can maybe live with them too.PM me with what you need for those items and maybe the fuel pump and lines too.Stan

BTW those chrome PBF valve covers are not original to the engine. Those came out in late 67 as I remember. But they are fetching a very good price these days. G.

is it still for sale? I like that cherry picker. The whole engine is a collection of parts. Is that a service block I see???

Is the engine in KS?

Default Yes it is still for sale.

Yes it is still for sale. I talked to the owner last night. He seems to agree his price is a little high and that it might be best to part it out. There are some great parts there that should be used by someone. I think it is a service block given the '71 date code, I couldn't find a casting number. We believe it to be a 390 service block based on a drill bit test in one freeze plug. Stroke is 3.78 also. It is in Kansas about 45 minutes from Kansas City.
