Default Clark 5-Speed Truck Trans w/ PTO

Thanks to trularin's generosity and leg-work, I got my hands on a complete 361FE big block....

It's got a Clark 5-speed big truck transmission w/ PTO on the backend of it.

Now either I can put the engine and trans in the Cobra the way it is and hook up the PTO to a bushhog or hay bailer or something like that.....or I can rebuild the engine and get rid of the tranny.

I think I'll rebuild the engine and get rid of the tranny.

Anyone on here need a big tranny? I have not yet seen it....but I'd say it will need a rebuild....I think the cover was left off of it for awhile. It should be a good core or a cleanup rebuild.

I'll make someone a sweet deal.....

That tranny if in rebuildable condition can probably bring in a few bucks in on one of the 4wd boards, like jeepsunlimted.com, pirate4x4.com, etc. Maybe even ebay it. I remember when I was building my Jeep it was not that easy to find a Ford NP435 toploader 1-ton tranny for my 5.0HO conversion. I ended up having to buy a 2wd version and rebuild it with a new mainshaft and adapter kit for a transfer case. So, since that thing is strong and a five speed, could be a gem for the right four wheeler.

I think the Clark 5-speeds are the 'S' series transmissions. I know the International's had 'em behind their 345's and 392's. I don't have first hand experience, but I think they are similar to the New Venture NV4500 5-speed, which is a high dollar tranny. The NV4500 are nice not only because of the 5 gear, but b/c of the granny first gear. Don't know what your first gear is. I am sure Clark makes a 4-spd, but it would be pretty easy to figure how many speeds your tranny has by shifting it.
