What are the #'s on the block? As far as I know, there weren't sideoilers until 1964.

As well, one thing worth mentioning is that often times marine 427's were not drilled as a sideoiler, although they had the screw in freeze plugs and bulge which would indicate it is. One other thing might be the rotation of the motor....I think some are reverse rotation?

Cool 1963 Side oilier

I have a book: MAX Performance Ford V8's with all the numbers in it. It says the 427 side oilier was made 1963 / High Performance #C3AE-AB on block. I know the numbers on heads C3AE low riser. I'ts not a marine engine for sure. These guys who bought these boats 30 years ago raced raced them on weekends. The boat is at a indoor RV storage. I will pick it up and see if I can get a good look at the engine #s. Send your email address I'll send a couple of picture I took a few days ago. If I would not have spent $7k building my 408W, I would have a need for this engine. This motor belongs in a Cobra not a boat. I'll replace it with a big block crate motor.

I belive this is the real deal guys.

Actually to correct my other post, the 427 SO's were first introduced for 1965. The block # per Steve Christ's book "How to rebuild your big block ford" is a topoiler model (had that exact engine in my first cobra).

It IS a 427 to be sure, but it sounds like it might not be an SO. For anyone this would be a fantastic motor except for someone who was driving around a track at high rpm all day long.....

I would really like to see some pictures. Do you happen to know how many hours are on it (if it has a Hobb's meter)? What type of intake? Did it have fresh water cooling? Jacketed exhaust or headers?

Thanks.
