What is a built 428 CJ worth?

I may have a 428 CJ for sale. It has 1750 miles on the re-build. I may put a 427 SO in my cobra. The engine is .030 overbore with the rods and mains at
.010 over. It has a fairly mild cam with .535 lift. Lumpy, but very streetable. Any idea what the engine is worth complete with Edelbrock intake and Holly carb? It would need an oil pan and distributor and would be ready to go.

John, I just read your post regarding the possible availability of your 428cj. I plan on installing a 428 cj in my future Hurricane cobra and am presently looking for a dependable engine that would be "rebuildable" or "good to go". I don't want somebodys junk with problems. When you get an idea what you want perhaps we can discuss the details of your 428 cj. I live in Lake Havasu
City so picking up your motor would be no problem.

Double ugly, you leave almost all the important details off the list.
Because the term "CJ" is so readily tossed around these days you must provide casting numbers to verify what you have. Block casing number, Crank casting number, Head casting numbers, carb list number. You say Edelbrock aluminum intake...which intake. Performer, Performer RPM, Victor, and so on. You say Holley carb...it this an original 735cfm Holley or any number of other aftermarket Holley carbs that could be bolted on? What is the compression ratio? What pistons are in the holes and what style/material are they? What valve train has been installed, springs, retainers, valves and so on. Any other modifications been done to the engine during the rebuild? When you ask the question "how much" the price can vary wildly depending on the exact details of the finished build, and who did the building. I can show you two identical looking 428 CJ's that vary in price by more than $7000 for the finished product, and vary in output by almost the same margin. Give us some more details and we can help you get close on an asking price. Thanks and good luck.

I have decided to keep the engine. It isn't a CJ though. It is a 1966 police interceptor engine with 10.5/1 pistons and relatively mild cam as stated above. Thanks for all the input.
