Default Webers for FE Straight up or slanted?

Ive been looking at Weber manifolds lately and wondered what everyone else thought. Which looks/works better for an FE in a Cobra? Does the slanted manifold make it that much easier to fit under the hood or can the same thing be achieved with smaller stacks? Please feel free to weigh in.

I like the slanted stacks on the FE's. Looks more intimidating that way to me on the big motor.

I think most of the Weber kits are just that. I think you can buy the parts seperately or with carbs & linkage.

As I can recall, I would find it hard to believe that my stacks would fit if they were not slanted 10 degrees. It looks nice as well.

Dean, theres several Co's that sell just the manifold. Dove, Blue Thunder, Inglese, And probably more.
Cracker, they make those stacks in 2" also but probably dont look as nice.
Ive got another problem in that I have a set of Hi Rise heads. Ive seen some photos of a Cobra that had 58s on HR manifold and they were huge, They were mounted sideways as opposed to pairing them up lengthwise. I'll try to find that photo and post it.
If anyone has seen or heard of a highrise manifold for webers let me know. Im gettin tard of reinvinting the wheel.

What does it cost to have a custom manifold made or altered? I'm sure the FE manifolds are a little more labor intensive to build so welding in longer runners might be a lot more cost effective.

The stacks are available in 1 1/2 inches from Inglese. I was able to fit 2 1/2 inch stacks on my Weber setup in my car with a cammer. I can't imagine any heads higher than a cammer. I did have to use the slightly higher and wider Weber hood scoop from Cobra Restorers to clear the stacks.

My custom Weber manifold was built by Hogan's Manifolds in CA and took a year to build (twice). Inglese did a lot of machine work on the manifold to make it work.

Alan how much did you end up spending on that Cammer? Theres several Co's that are building cammer heads now and more coming out soon. Enough that it made me think once or twice about going with the Cammer. Since I started this quest Ive met a lot of people some of which have original parts squirelled away. Id sure like to find the guy that had that Hi riser manifold with the 58s on it. Funny how the Ford aftermarket is. Chevies have so many parts mfg's that they are on every corner and two in the middle of the street.

Ford aftermarket stuff is starting to get easier to find. I'm betting this will only get better in the future. I think we are in a period of transition where you will start seeing fewer Chevys in Fords & more Fords in Chebbies

Check with Jim at Dove, he has many old toolings from Ford, in fact, he has ALL the original toolings for the SOHC motor, but also many FE intakes.
