Rear 9" Diff Disc Brakes
Thought I would check this site first for a set of 11" Ford 5 on 4 1/2" rear disc brakes (complete with rotors, calipers, etc.). I know I can buy them at several places but if anyone has a good set they are willing to sell send me an email to:
tulsacobra@valornet.com
I may need a set of different rear coil overs too if any one has a good set of those. I am switching out my 8.8 in favor of the 9" limited slip diff.
Thanks,
Clois

Rick,
Would your rotors work with Davids Calipers? If so I will buy them from you and have you UPS to me.
David,
For right now OE will be fine. Later I may add some Wilwood Calipers. Can you bring them to NPR in a couple of weeks and I will buy them from you. Thanks
Clois

See you at NPR...
PS; You may have to "throw-in" a ride for me in your car with the deal......

I let you drive if the deal is good enough! As I am told there will be plenty of cars available to play with on the track.

They probably will but just a word of caution, the Versaille Calipers are VERY HEAVY. That is specifically why I didn't use them, I had new ones and ultimately threw them away! I used calipers from a 88 Tbird Turbo Coupe, similar to Taurus rears too, check piston sizes, readily available cheap. Check my gallery there are some very good shots of my rear setup. I did not use them only because the "hat" area was visable behind the center of my FIA wheels, behind 427 wheel no problem. The rotors in my gallery are from a Versaille. The ones I am offering do not have as much offset, consequently they are lighter too. If you are fabricating a rear axle assembly you can make allowance for caliper location, wheel backspacing is most likely not an issue. I also have some 9" gear housings cheap.

What do you want?
David, What do you want for the versaille parts?
I have the versaill setup right now and for the surface area, you will have to spend a lot more money to get the same.
It did require some machining!!!
Clois, I can let you know what I did to fit the brake assembly to my nine.
Over all., I'd go with the versaill.
Hope this helps.

Trularin;
Not a lot,but Clois has first dibs on it,if he doesn't take the stuff,I let you know......
Not sure what you mean by "machining",this is the factory stuff that will/should fit any ford 9" rearend......
BTW,I looked for the darn rotors today and can not find them,still looking though.....What I have is the calipers and caliper brackets,no "soft lines".

may be
Well, as long as you have the correct flange bolt pattern, they will bolt up.
If not, you need to index and drill new holes, then machine the boss out so the nuts are seated flush and in.
There are three bolt patterns on nines. At first I though the Versaill came only for the 2" pattern, but I have heard from someone that they also came with the 2 3/8" pattern.
It does not make a difference if you have the ability to drill and mill.
The other problem that appears in this installation is the bearing seat and depth. For some strange and wield reason, the distance from the axel face and the support bearing will change.
On one installation it was 3/8" deeper than on a previous job. This will make it necesssary to find a rotor with the correct hat and diameter.
I found the rotor and then milled the caliper anchor so the pads fit all of the surface.
Once I was done, they were/are great!
What I have found is a lot of guys leave the grand canyon between the caliper anchor and the rotor face.
Once the pads wear down, they slip out and you get break failure.
Yes, I did machine my parts to make the system work on my car.

I used Ford's Explorer brake kit on mine. Works great, parts available anywhere, and cost was right too. I was real pleased how the handle track time.

I also used the Ford Explorer setup. Mine works well. The emergency brake is incorporated in the rotors on this setup. I used the Locar chrome emergency brake handle along with Locar stainless cables. Made a nice setup. Everything fit very well.

David/hog;
I'm interested in the Ford Explorer set-up,please explain it a little more to me,what rear end are you guys using and what parts from the Ford Explorer are you using and how did you mount the stuff to your rear end??????
BTW; I have access to a couple of salvage yards and get parts pretty cheap and while I have not looked in a while,there may be an Explorer around.....
Thanks;
David
